It is showing on Bustimes (unsure if it’s true or not) 7549 is showing as now repainted into Journey Mark.

Is this the case that all of this batch are due to be repainted/refurbished as it could be suggesting this by 7551 having been off since the 6th September for the same potential reason.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I believe that batch are being repainted at the moment, yes, so it does add up. I saw the back end of the X21 7549 was tracking on this morning and it did have pink vinyls, but I was too far away to confirm if it was definitely 7549. Edit: '7549' passed me on my way home there, and it was definitely a 17-plate MMC. Headrests remain, and it looks to have had a full retrim too.

7551 was off for mechanical reasons, unsure if that is still the case. Given how it looked, 7552 would be my best guess for what has gone, if anything.
If the MMCs are going to be sent for refurb would it not make sense 7575/76 returning to Ashington to ensure there's enough deckers spare

That's when the X93 winter timetable comes into force so that is correct.

1538/9 will be returning to be used on the X16, so won't be used as repaint floats.

Would it not be better to send them over the weekend ready for the start of the week

Unfortunately, the summer timetables at Whitby don't actually finish until the end of service on Sunday 5th November - that weekend happens to be the last Goth Weekend of the year so they retain the summer timetable for the extra day every year. So they were still be required on the Sunday.
