Go North East have updated the timetable changes

39/39A/39B now doesn't mention Gateshead Central Taxis running the 37

The 317 has been retimed by 3 minutes (the fact they have had the service for 4 months and somehow have had to give it a timetable change for the reason is "Minor amendments to the 317 timetable to improve punctuality"

Stagecoach ran it for 2 years with the one timetable changes being the time at Ferry which nexus consultation was.

700 going to Roker, Sunday timetable - Finishes around 7pm

701 - Will now finish at 6pm (currently 11pm)

I believe JH Coaches were the winning operator of the contract for service 37, not Gateshead Central, so perhaps this was a mistake on Go North East’s part.

Regardless, it was unusual that they quoted the new operator for this service but none of the others. It really ought to be all (the more customer-focused thing to do) or nothing.

The 700 has a different route to Roker now too, it doesn't go to the beach anymore.

Interesting, wonder why?

If I was to guess it's probably because of the bad parking along the sea front, we used to get stuck quite often with people dumping cars on the turning circle down the beach.

Ahh right, doesn't surprise me at all.

Nexus designed the timetable for the 317 so presumably it’s a change initiated by Nexus based on today’s traffic congestion, which is far worse than 2years or even 12 months ago.

700 is a Nexus secured service so any route change will be at Nexus request.

Interesting, I read a lot of negative comment on line about the Wardley - QE section been cut.  Hopefully not a Nexus error on the timetable.

The 67 and 69 buses will keep running between the QE hospital and Wardley, thanks to funding from Nexus and the support of local councillors. This means there will continue to be east-west links across Gateshead from early until late, seven days a week.

Go North East will also operate early morning, evening, and Sunday trips for these routes. The route and timetables will stay the same; only the operator will change from Gateshead Central Taxis to Go North East.

Before anyone shouts out, this is a wholly pragmatic view to the Derwentside Changes. Whilst I don't agree with the allocation of StreetDecks on the X21 and I'm sure GNE will find someway to sort this in the future (maybe more spare StreetDecks of the Angel when it goes EV).......it's probably just a hell of a lot easier keeping all the E400MMCs (minus the X10 subfleet) together at Consett for sheer ease hence my modelling below (and not a cold hard suggestion).

If the X32 & X70 were swapped around so that the X70 served the Lobley Hill Estate and the X32 operated straight via Lobley Hill Road, then practically everything including the X45 could interwork well within the given driving parameters and no changes other than times would be made for the other routes. Not forgetting much cleaner headways unlike the X70 & X31 that will practically sit on top of each other through Sunniside at xx:49 heading towards Newcastle. GNE have robbed themselves of an opportunity of a clean & efficient interworking pattern eliminating the need for most remote reliefs at Stanley.

Note that the default nominated fleet for the X32 & X70 would be corporate B9TL's or E400 Classics to ensure suitable cover for the other boards needing low height vehicles.

Dont forget, the July changes come into effect from this coming Sunday (21st), i for one am dreading the 9 taking over, hourly service opposed to the current half hour service offered by the 10/11, so if you miss it, you're screwed, atleast Stagecoach attempted to still run the service like that through the Tyne Tunnel closure unlike GNE who have peddled that excuse from the off "due to the Tyne Tunnel roadworks, service 9 will operate hourly from Jarrow to North Shields"

To explain in better, all they've done is swapped the leaving times around at Wallsend and Whitley Bay (I.e, they'll now leave Whitley Bay at 13 and 43 minutes past the hour and Wallsend at 27 and 57 minutes past the hour, opposed to the opposite way around).

They are no longer timed to match with the Ferry, even though Nexus desperately wanted it with Stagecoach.

My honest guess is, they don't want to take it off Go North East 'cause it'll cost the cheapest, so they work around their failures.

Weird how you're putting on GNE when it's a Nexus route.

It's only hourly on weekend due to the Tyne Tunnel works (which Stagecoach have also being suffering the effects of).

The Monday-Friday service is every 30 minutes still.

As with all contracts, Nexus specify the timetable. 

So it would have been the same regardless of who operates it.

Yes but my point is he asked why did i put it in GNE, errrrrrm because GNE are the ones running it on behalf of Nexus
