Nexus timetable has shown Peter Hogg are withdrawn service 131 and replaced it with a new X74 service. From what I can gather it's

It's also effectively a replacement for the 808 service currently operated by Phoenix which will be withdrawn from the same date.

The 808 is getting withdrawn? I haven't found any information about this anywhere. Just the 131 being replaced by the X74, with additional trips each way.

Post on the Otterburn Parish Council Facebook page certainly suggests this to be the case when detailing the new X74:

"The bus service from Redesdale to Newcastle is changing from 29 January, 2024.
From that date the 808 and 131 services will no longer be operational but a new service (X74) will come into effect.
Peter Hogg will provide the X74 service that will run three times a day Monday to Saturday.
Please see link attached for the timetable. This information has only become available today and there will be a further update should the Parish Council receive more details."

Certainly seems likely given that the first and last journeys of the day run at around the same times as the 808 currently does to a similar route between Otterburn and Newcastle, although has not been registered as cancelled yet.

I don't suppose you have any idea what the fares will be? Probably the same as on the 131 currently, I guess.

Surprised to see the 808 getting withdrawn, I didn't expect it. Good to see additional trips on the 131 (X74) between Newcastle and Jedburgh. No service to Bellingham on Saturdays anymore with these changes.

It's £6 for a single for the full length. Although the driver indicated the TNE fares were available. Might be one to check with the council!

It's a nice run by the way, but I doubt it will survive beyond BSIP funding...

The £2 fare is available in England. It's £2 single between Newcastle and Carter Bar then £4 single between Carter Bar and Jedburgh, which is why you were charged £6. The TNE £6.80 ticket is valid throughout, I believe. I need to do the trip at some point too!
With the X77/X78/X79 all revised to operate via Kingston Park, would it not make sense to send the X74 that way as well? Yes it's an infrequent service, but so is the X79 and yes it's a long distance route not a local one, but the route matches the X77/X78/X79 at present and is numbered to represent that fact.

Any news on when the new electric ADLs are coming for the X74? Two new buses to enter service on the X74 in September.

Erm no

Why would they need to

As explained. The service was numbered X74 to fit in with the X77/X78/X79. Given they follow the same route now, it's not unreasonable to question if they still would. But I think because it's such a long route they probably wouldn't bother. Surprised they made it stop more as the X74 than it did as the 131. Just for simplicity for passengers it would make sense for the X74/X77/X78/X79 to follow the same route, but it's similar enough anyway.
Does anyone know when the '24 plate ADLs are due to enter service on the X74? Are these new ADLs the electric ones?
Alexander Dennis have posted on LinkedIn with the delivery of the two new Enviros, YX24 PMO and YX24 PMU. One has a red tartan moquette whilst the other has a blue tartan moquette.

We've built a pair of new Enviro200 to bespoke specifications for Peter Hogg Coach & Minibus Hire. They embody a Scottish theme of printed tartan moquette, colour-matched to hand poles as well as to exterior vinyls in a similar style. Continuing the operator's tradition of naming vehicles after Disney characters, the buses have been christened King Fergus and Queen Elinor.

Director Annie Hogg picked up the bus at our Scarborough factory and said: “We’ve been extremely happy with our existing Enviro200 buses and the attention and care provided by the Alexander Dennis team, which made it an easy choice to return for our fourth and fifth examples of the type. These are our best buses yet with their fantastic interior and exterior finish.”

Our Retail Sales Director [/url]Charlie Miller added: “It has been a huge pleasure to bring Annie’s vision for these latest Enviro200 low-emission buses to life in collaboration with our partners. Camira used their revolutionary digital print capabilities for the moquette, and KDT Graphics provided the exterior vinyls, working closely together to make it all match perfectly.”

Peter Hogg Coach & Minibus Hire is based in Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders. The company operates local services as well as a cross-border route to Newcastle upon Tyne, providing vital links for the region.

I thought Peter Hogg were getting 2 new electric ADL Enviro200s. Due in September. Are these new buses the permanent ones for the X74? Was I wrong about electric ones coming for the service?
