Anyone heard of any rumours regarding new vehicles this year?
Im hoping that the 62/63 services get some new vehicles this year, the last time they got new vehicles was 2016, and half of them ended up allocated elsewhere, tend to get atleast 5 or 6 singles allocated daily on them
so I think a good 15 new vehicles to slatyford to allow the practice of singles that get allocated to cease, maybe moving ten singles out as spares for electric fleets as the cold temperatures are already affecting the batteries and keeping 5 as spares.
Walkergate maybe receiving ten. Perhaps pushing 6 of the oldest doubles out and upgrading 4 singles which seem to end up on the 22 a fair bit
Sunderland are apparently getting more electic buses.
Not sure what will replace the ones on loan from Newcastle - probs 2nd hand stuff.
Well stockton get one or two EV400 to place one at stockton depot this year or keep one on loan at stockton?
hopefully Hartlepool might get some new buses even if not brand new some of the 200MMCs from Newcastle if they get one ones would be nice or even the Enviro 300s. I mean I can dream can’t I, Hartlepool desperately needs something though.

We might see some E200s in Shields shortly ( ex slatyford).
Enviro 200 08 were for stockton but to small so went hartlepool instead next year in 2009 when stockton get Enviro 300 for 36,37 service i think
I think trialling an Enviro 500EV on the 39/40 (Wallsend-Chapel House/Dumpling Hall) with a view to purchasing some would be good due loadings these services can get particularly during peak times.
In addition to this priorities should be replacing the remaining E400 Classics (58/60 Plates). E200's (59/61 Plates) and E300's (11 /61/12/62/13 Plates).
I'd also like to see a commitment made for all South Shields Town Services to be converted EV operation in the next 2/3 years to be realistic.

I know it's England so they're hated but bendy buses would be ideal for the 39/40 imo like pretty much every other European country or at least dual door vehicles.
Obviously you'd have to invest in infrastructure in places though.
The multiple doors on them would massively speed them up in places like Byker and Newcastle.
Single door E500's would be a nightmare though, just up the frequency instead imo.

Dont forget the only 12 reg E400 Classic in Newcastle (10000)
The 60-plates (and 10000) aren't going anywhere any time soon.

66 plate batch to allow the 37xxx to all transfer to Hartlepool.

Its Stagecoach, they'll run them til they literally drop apart, there would still be 03/54 reg ALX300's knocking about if it werent for the CAZ, just shows how well things used to be made if a bus had an 18/19 year career, and 22341 that had turned 20 when it was withdrawn a few month back (by Stagecoach anyway)

how about Hartlepool get the MMCs and Shields can have the 37xxx instead.

Tbh I think the modern stuff will last as long as them, all depends how well they're looked after.

Slatyford is having the shed knocked down this year to install the chargers which will allow for the rest of the 18 Yutong E12’s to enter service on the 30/31/36 and should be some brand new ones as
73191-73194 went to rugby permanently which should remove the remaining MAN E300’s from service.
Slatyford will also be getting 6 smaller EV’s (unsure what) for the 32/32A services which should remove quite a few of the E200’s. Rumour going around is Slatyford could be going fully electric this year/next year which would allow the 104**’s 105**’s 106**’s and the 260**’s and 262**’s to go elsewhere which could benefit likes of Walkergate, Shields, Hartlepool and Sunderland.
Why does the roof have to be removed for the electrics?
One of the reasons is because it is not a building it reduces business rates and insurance premium
For example if there was a fire everything would be effected whereas if outside in the open you move stuff more safely.
ANOTHER EXAMPLE is Riverside they used to park the buses when opened one way now they park the other way (turn the buses 90 degrees)

The original plan was just the roof but it’s the whole shed now just leaving the building where control room is, toilets, canteen, reception etc gives them more space to install more chargers in the future and less risk of fires should an issue occur.

Sounds like they could be going for the Yutong E9L or ADL Enviro100 EV which would be more than sufficient for the 32/32A capacity wise however as we know the current E200's do drift off onto other services so might be worthwhile going for the 9.9m Enviro 200 EV so at least you have something with the capabilities of operating various services.
Do think stagecoach north east get some enviro EV100?
Do you think that stagecoach north east get more new EV400 or yutongs U11dd double decker in the future? Because there do with some more in stagecoach north east fleet.

From a personal opinion perspective i think all depots here in the north east would benefit from these buses if im being honest.especially byker and slatyford(im not so sure on the rest as I haven’t rlly used their services that often so pls correct me). They would be good replacements for the unfortunately now aging e400mmcs at slatyford and good replacements for the E40Ds at byker. Please tell me if anyone disagrees
Alot of new EV400 round UK not north east i think north east get some and more yutongs U11dd too.

Aging MMC's, 10 and 7 year old arent really old compared to their predecessors, and theres the 23 reg ones dont forget, plenty life in them yet, but what i do agree with is that upgrading the 39/40, 62/63 would allow an "upgrade" for the 12 and 22
