Much like 'the war' in the Fawlty Towers episode 'The Germans', it seems that we are not allowed to mention the phrase "City Transport" (oops, sorry for mentioning it) in any context whatsoever. So what better place not to talk about Cit...(nearly mentioned it again), erm, "Them" than in this thread here....

I guess there are certain things you are definitely not allowed to mention, aside from the name of the company.

For example, and as stated elsewhere on the forum, the ongoing dispute between former drivers of the company not to be named, Nexus, and Go North East should probably not be talked about, nor should links be posted like this one here.

I'm also guessing, because the judge incorrectly ruled against the director of the company who shall not be named in an employment tribunal, then we probably shouldn't link to the case either.

There are probably other things we shouldn't mention, like the oddly named companies registered at Companies House by a certain director of a certain company either, especially as this information isn't easily accessible or in the public domain and is hidden behind a shrove of secrecy like some sort of super secret society or something.

These are just some guidelines of how this thread should operate. If the rest of the forum know of any things about the company that definitely should not be mentioned, then please list them here so people don't get into trouble.
This actually made me chuckle
As we’re currently private due to, er, server issues (need cloudfare to help with some of that) I shall stick with the era and say, ooh, you are awful.

I think we need a code word for Ci... I mean, that one bus company who's skint but refused to admit their skint.

I bet there are a few four-letter words being used, in code, to describe the director of the company that shall not be named.

But, seriously, there are other places on the internet discussing the predicament of the former drivers and how and when TUPE may apply:

https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/sun...te.302297/

So while he may be able to restrict debate here, his, and his company's reputation, already precede him elsewhere
I think most have been around for long enough to know that moderating decisions have always been taken collectively here, so I'm not going to get in to responding to them publicly. I am however going to take the moderator badge off for a moment.

Let me be clear from the outset. I absolutely share people's frustration here. A point made previously was that this is all honest opinion, relating to material that is well within the public domain, and that there's no confidentiality being broken. I share that opinion too.

We've always strived on this forum to allow a robust debate on all matters, and whether we agree or disagree with the matter in hand, we've been allowed to express our opinions.

The irony of the whole situation, is that if such a fuss wasn't being made, the thread would have likely died down a day later. We saw this with the Go North East strike thread, for example, where there was a flurry of activity after each press release or news article, then nothing.

Perhaps there's a lesson here too. If you don't like negative comments, then be a better person and treat others with the respect and dignity they deserve.

There was nothing defamatory or libellous in any of the posts I read, just some harsh truths and some animated opinions around publicly accessible information. Certainly nothing deserving of censorship nor even meriting the suggestion of libel.

With the fullness of time, this operator will be little more than a footnote in history.

Now whether that will be through further self-implosion into insolvency (accounts are overdue by three weeks on Companies House), or the long arm of the law, remains to be seen.
I see that, despite making a post on the weekend boasting about their payday loan B8, City have left a comment on ADLs post regarding E400XLBs today asking ADL to build one for City.

Also stating that the eVoSeti is “okay but not amazing”, again despite posting on Saturday that they were “Very proud… to bring one of these amazing machines onto fleet”.

Geezer changes position more than Bonnie Blue.

They do realise the ADL E400XLB is exactly the same as the MCV EvoSeti underneath in that's still a Volvo B8L, it just has a different manufacturers bodywork attached.

I'm guessing what is being implied is the MCV build quality is not fantastic. Which in fairness its not amazing. Unsure if ADL would be any better mind?

Wouldn't care but them boasting about being the first to have one in the NE whilst Weardale's arrived very soon after their's, Weardale however did keep their's off over the winter as they didn't want the road salt getting to it straight away (unsure if it’s been out yet or not).
Have their drivers been paid yet? Don't think they're in any position to be window shopping until that is settled.

There is a screenshot floating around of the Facebook post in question, where numerous people have told him to "pay his drivers", yet Daddy James remains vague as to whether they've been paid, whilst inferring those who ask don't know the circumstances around TUPE.

No.
'Allegedly' the Evoseti has been repossessed (from the Leeds area).

One of the Citaros is (or was) at DT Bus, Durham with rear bodywork damage.

Unsure where the rest of the fleet are.
Posted on LinkedIn is that they have quadrupled in size......

This week, City Transport Group is pleased to announce we have quadrupled in size, with the addition of A&A Coach Travel of Yorkshire to the Group.

This means we can now provide upto 25 fully accessible vehicles across the north of England, serviced from depots in West Yorkshire and Tyneside.  The majority of this fleet conforms to the latest euro VI emissions regulations.  In particular this gives more resilience to fluctuating fuel prices.

We look forward to working with clients old and new.

Do you need:
special event transport
workplace or school shuttle services
PSVAR and AIR-fitted vehicles for rail or light rail replacement, across the north of England or beyond?

We look forward in particular to developing existing business relationships with Nexus, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Supertram, Transport for Greater Manchester and Great British Railways

For the next few months, please expect either a green or a red bus to be deployed, whilst we appraise the existing vehicle types as well as other options.

Here is to a bright future, stronger together.
I’m not sure they want to develop the relationship they now have with Nexus :s
Well at least the word "Group" now actually makes sense...

Nexus apparently banned City from all contract work

Do you need a bendy bus for your service that we dont care about. Good fantastic news. Contact A&CityA today for all your bright needs. Do you have drivers that need paying. Congrats so do we
Perhaps with fuel prices decreasing in recent days, then surely any contracts agreed during the period of turmoil which was the US/Iran war should be subject to a price review between the operator and the client.

I mean, fuel costs played a heavy role in their reasons for chucking the Sunderland Connect contract back to Nexus, so surely what's good for the goose and all that....

A&A being another bunch of cowboys as outlined in this thread on Travel West Yorkshire forum regarding operation of contracted service 30 in Horsforth A&A travel bus 30 Horsforth - quite an entertaining read!

I thought Nexus said they had kicked City Transport off the connect contract? Are they still on the list to provide Metro and Ferry cover?
Wouldn't be the first time a company has lingered on the emergency cover contract list.

Can think of another (now ceased) company that kept appearing on Nexus work after the company made the headlines for the wrong reasons.
The terrifying & bone-chilling senior figure of this operation has came out & said that those who have criticised City Transport "ought to be ashamed of themselves", whilst speaking on their latest YouTube Channel video release...

I am rarely speechless but I genuinely think that could pass as an avant garde commentary sketch

If The Day Today or BrassEye ever parodied the era of YouTubers or Social Media Influencers, then I imagine this is what they'd come up with. In fact, as I was writing that, I know what this reminds me of in terms of awkward presentation: Fun With Flags with Dr Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory.

I liked how he managed to name eight of the nine protected chrematistics of the Equalities Act, but falls just shy of naming them all. If you're naming eight, you might as well name them all. The one he missed, incidentally, was Pregnancy and Maternity.

Also, the random whiteboard list. An underlined USP at the top, then a list of things, most which are barely Unique Selling Points, like 'No Touch While in Motion', 'Good Stock', or 'Works Offline 99%'.

Can't wait for the next episode of this madness.
