Pesky trees and windows again.
Re 11157 and having tree problems. Anywhere in particular on the route? And if again how frequent is this? Much damage - cost must be adding up up!

Was around Bardon Mill, but NCC have been out to lob a few trees so its okay now. 11157 was eating through three front upper windows a week at worst...! Oddly unique to the MMCs.... older E400 and Tridents had no problems.

Re trees.
So I am guessing on this bit of road (the old A69) NCC is responsible for the trees so Stagecoach speak to NCC who prune? Any financial compensation from NCC?
At The Sands Brampton, the few big trees on the A6071 at the bus stops are Brampton Parish Council responsibility. These trees are mostly pruned by passing HGVs except the two at the turn in and out for the Carlisle bound bus stop layby and Brampton Parish Council pruned these a few years ago.
I recall seeing a flickr photo of a Trident part open top being repainted in Carlisle depot at the start of this year as it had been out with contractors on a tree pruning run (Keswick-Seatoller?) - so does that mean at times Stagecoach go out and prune trees at Stagecoach cost?

It will final be coming home to C&NL in the coming weeks once it has finished it's campaign. It will be first loaned to Lancaster before heading to Carlisle to be vinyled up for the 685.
Alexander-Dennis/Enviro400 11158 finally arrived at Carlisle on Monday 13th January following an extended period on loan to Stagecoach Group for IT testing and then went on loan to Morecambe depot for a few weeks.
It is seen here freshly branded for CROSS PENNINE 685 in the paint shop at Carlisle depot. It was due to enter service on January 15th on the 685 but instead will return to Stagecoach Group at Stockport for further testing.

Thanks for the update!
The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter/Mellors were for contracts weren't they?, i assume they haven't gone ahead due to the current situation?
When the E200's come out of storage, which services will go on?, a Lakes service?

Sellafield Ltd contract has been delayed due to the current pandemic, the loaned Mellors were to cover gaps where intended contract vehicles had not arrived yet, but ultimately are not needed. There are a number of new Sprinters to land, to go alongside 12206-12213 and 26001-26005, plus others tbc.
The E200s will be heading into Kendal, subject to change over the next few months but will be stored at Lillyhall for now.

At Carlisle bus station, there is a small office on the island with the bus stands - the office has a small entrance area, say 2m X 3m at most, open to the public which house timetable racks and may be 3 seats - opening hours are ??. Has usually been open when passing during what you might call office hours, certainly 11.00-16.00 when I have been there Monday to Friday.
Not a travel shop.
Penrith and Workington= no.
Carlisle have exchanged MAN E300 24125 for Morecambe's Euro6 E300 27227 to increase the number of full-size Euro6 single deckers at the depot to cover 685 workings.
Lillyhall have gained 3 E200s of different ages - ex-Yorkshire E200 36182/3 landed earlier in the month for use on the Sellafield contracts. Meanwhile, the latest transfer in is ex-Manchester E200MMC 26141 .
Due soon is ex-Stagecoach East E400 19574 (AE10 BWG) - recently damaged under a bridge in Luton. It will be converted to open top to join 19161 on the 78 as a replacement for one of the remaining ALX400s.
Since the 685 has gone all Stagecoach, it as been quite common for one of these E400MMCs not to appear on the 685 but be used for various other services which typically includes a morning and afternoon schools run. It would appear that Carlisle have school runs requiring x double deckers and the decker allocation is x+1, so only 1 spare, hence an E400MMC gets reallocated - it will also cut down the daily mileage. Note one of the 'school runs' is the 685 that goes through Hexham at schools in time and the same bus passes through Hexham at schools out time.
I had noticed that an E200 would now appear for the whole day on the 685. But then some of the Carlisle Citi routes would be operated by E300s.
Also note that Newcastle now has a LEZ zone so any 685 bus going in to Newcastle bus station, needs to be LEZ compliant, e.g. Euro 6.
