##Further Update##

A new service linking Yarm and Thornaby via Maltby, Hilton and Kirklevington will start running as soon as possible, most probably be 2 journeys a day, twice a week, partly subsidised by local parish councils.

Service 84, Will possibly be getting a route change to serve all of Redmarshall and Bishopton, omitting Thorpe Thewles, again funded by local parish councils.

Early morning 605/6/7 funding ends in May, services will be kept commercially, expect route and number changes.

Good to hear Bishopton could be getting more buses again as they currently only have the Scarlet Band 20 to Darlington on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at the moment and who knows how much longer that will last.

To be brutally honest, Bishopton was never a busy stop when Arriva's 6 went round there - was very few trips that actually stopped there and very few fare paying passengers. Also then the fact Bishopton is in Darlington Borough Council area not Stockton yet everybody in the village wants to go to Stockton (it also makes a journey from Stillington to Stockton longer as it takes 10 minutes from Stillington to Redmarshall via Bishopton, 5 minutes longer than via Whitton).

Had a feeling it wouldn't be many people using it especially since Arriva changed the route to Stillington to run via Hartburn when the cuts happened (then swiftly cut Stillington too).

At least they will have a service should the 20 end, which I think it will as it has pitiful passenger numbers when I've seen it in Darlington.
Had an offer off the parish council that is apparently too good to refuse, possible extensions to mbro aswell via Teesside Park.

The problem with rural or semi rural routes is everyone complains when services are cut yet hardly ever use them when they are re-instated!
Hardly think anyone is going to mind a 5 minute longer journey. At least they've got a bus.
Glad to say I've spent half an hour working on a fleetlist for Dales & District... it can be found here

EDIT: New late last year for Procters was BN64CNK in Lochs & Glens livery

Minibus PX51DVL formed the last 29 service from Darlington to Richmond this evening making for very funny reactions by passengers when it pulled up onto stand
Is Leven Valley SN06 BRV on loan to Dales and District as it was doing the 34 in Darlington this afternoon.

I know the NEB fleet list says loan, just want to make sure as I don't want any more incorrect Flickr captions.

Thanks for clearing that up.
As the notices are now up on their buses........

Leven Valley will cease operations after end of service on Friday 20th March due to increasing insurance costs makes their network unaffordable to operate. As such, the villages of Stillington, Whitton, Carlton, Redmarshall and Stainton along with parts of Marton, Coulby Newham, Nunthorpe and Eston will be without any bus services after that date.

Do you think anyone will try and provide a service around those areas?

I understand some alternative services are being worked on but it won't be much.
Unfortunately the councils don't have any money to fund anything, which will ultimately leave many areas without a service

Very sad to see this happen, particularly when it is for the reasons described.

Has any reason been given for the massive rise in premiums?

Wish them well but using two high value Optare Tempo hybrids from London is probably not the smartest idea
