Think it's a case of cash availability. I know I used to be a bit more wary about using trains as they can be quite expensive (especially when compared to Megabus), but these days I'm more inclined to use the train when I can afford to do so.

Especially in the summer months though, I treated £20 as two Megabus Wednesday trips or one weekend train trip... In my eyes, two trips was better than one, if £20 was all I could afford to spend on travelling elsewhere in the UK for a trip that fortnight/month.

I don't know whether you've travelled on the overnight service to London, but from my experience - you don't get much sleep.

Between May and October in 2012 I travelled down to London, by bus, on almost a bi-weekly basis to do Uni work at The National Archive. If that train deal was available at the time, I would have booked it like a shot.
I do agree that train travel is massively more expensive, but £24 for London and back can't be sniffed at. I'm down there next week, and it cost about £210 iirc. Part of that is choice like, as I prefer getting the 0703 direct service on the way down.

I've never been on a coach for a long time, but as well as the length of journey, it was always how cramped you feel that put me off. At least on a train, 9 times out of 10, you can just get up and go and sit in a quieter part. It's not uncommon for me to have a 4 seat table block to myself when I do the ECML...

'The Cloud' sent me an email the other day with that offer.
Thought it sounded great, until I read that you had to download an app and add money to your account in order to get the Festive Bake.

No Windows phone App either...
Don't get me started on the whole no Windows Phone app thing.
Got £1 off my pack of 3 doughnuts from Krispy Kremes with my student card. Not much... but craving their doughnuts.

A gin and tonic is normally £8?!
Not sure if it is a floating deal (see below), but when you buy a Boots Meal Deal, you get an extra bottle of water free.
Can't come in wrong if the weather is good.

I say floating deal, as when I was in the Silverlink store early last week, they had the offer on then - with advertising literature on the fridges.

When in the Arnison Centre store earlier, there was no promotional material, but when I was given the free bottle at the till - I mentioned how I thought the offer must have ended, with there being nothing about promoting the deal. I went on and explained that I had had a free drink from Silverlink last week.
The sales assistant responded and stated the offer had just started that day and that I must be getting mixed up!

Boots meal deals aren't bad at all actually. It was never somewhere I thought of when grabbing a sandwich, but I end to grab something from there every now and again now... the Chicken Tikka flatbread is always a safe choice! Smile

Especially if you have one of the 30p vouchers that they churn out of the till or which comes with your advantage card.

Haven't had that flatbread - always the Chicken triple selection of sandwiches, the biggest crisps and biggest drink! Tis the same price, as the smallest of everything.
For those that don't have Sky, it may be worth giving this a try:

Yes my flight home from Heathrow the other day was delayed (around an hour) so I went to Boots to grab something, had their lovely Chicken & Chorizo sandwich, crisps and bottle of Fanta for £3.79 which I didn't think was bad for airport prices!

That's a bloody good price!

Any idea if they're valid for travel locally? Newcastle - Boro for example?

I've taken four already, haha.

Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester. Cost me a fiver in total!

Haha, i was going to take a few, however got deadlines for uni and that so i can't =(
Unfortunately the closest stop to me is Middlesbrough Bus Station and the times don't really work out so in most cases I would either have to stay over or pay a total fortune for taxis to get to/from Middlesbrough because of the lack of bus services to/from Middlesbrough at the arrival/departure times. So once again living where I live has screwed me out of bus trips once again! Sad

Think I either need to learn to drive or move to somewhere in the Sunderland or Newcastle areas.
Virgin East Coast are running a superfly seat sale as deatiled below.

Oh yes - MIL sent me a link to that one.

Torn. There's 2 newspapers I object to quite strongly and that's one of them.

Edit: just realised that she sent me her code, so all done!

Good offer, but I'd not buy the excuse for a paper.
