To reduce the fleet strength towards a lower spare vehicle percentage in the North Division, these three Volvo B10BLEs being absorbed into the main fleet at Riverside has released three further Volvo B10BLEs (4903, 4906 and 4907) to Deptford Depot, allowing the withdrawal of younger (albeit less reliable), more expensive to maintain, Wright Cadet bodied DAF SB120s from the fleet.

This vehicle has now received The Diamond" branding, with sub-branding for the 43/44 services. Early expansion of the Go-Ahead Northern empire saw the acquisition of certain smaller competing bus operators in North East England, during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Northern acquired JH Hammell (Diamond) on 30th December 1994, which this brand refers to.
