In a bid to standardise the fleets at Arriva North East and Arriva Yorkshire, the two divisions are undertaking a swap of double-deck vehicle allocations. Arriva North East will receive further VDL DB300/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 vehicles, and will lose the entire batch of ten Volvo B5LH/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 vehicles. The exchange of vehicles suits the business needs of both divisions: it is suggested that the Volvo maintenance contract associated with the Hybrids has expired now that the buses are 5-years old, meaning any maintenance would have had to be undertaken locally by Arriva North East, while Arriva Yorkshire are in need of more environmentally-friendly vehicles ahead of planned vehicle emissions charges being introduced as part of a 'Leeds Clean Air Zone' initiative. As such; this vehicle has now been sold to Arriva Yorkshire, where it now carries fleet number 1712.

In order to standardise the Arriva North East and Arriva Yorkshire double-deck fleets, an exchange of Wright Eclipse Geminis is taking place. Arriva North East will lose their Volvo B5 Hybrid vehicles following the end of their Volvo maintenance contract, in exchange for more-familiar VDL DB300 examples. This vehicle has now transferred to the Arriva Yorkshire fleet.

January 2017
Arriva North East
This vehicle has moved from Blyth to Blyth (Under Repair), whilst being refurbished and repainted to "MAX" specification. It is thought that "Coastliner" services 306/308 are both being upgraded to "MAX" specification. The existing Volvo B5LH/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 allocation will be retained on service 308, but service 306 will be revised to operate with VDL SB200/Wright Pulsar 2 vehicles, with the existing "Coastliner" branded Wright Streetlite DF/Wright Streetlite Max Micro-Hybrid allocation deployed elsewhere.
