This vehicle is one of a batch of ten VDL SB200/Wright Pulsar 2 vehicles which has been acquired by Arriva North East from the North West division (where it previously carried fleet number 3121). It is currently undergoing repaint and refurbishment to "Sapphire" specification at Thornton Brothers, Ashington. It is thought that this batch of vehicles will be allocated to service 6 at Belmont Depot, which is in-line to be upgraded to "Sapphire" specification.

This vehicle has received "Sapphire" branding, with sub-branding for services X21/X22 (Newbiggin - Ashington - Newcastle). This batch of vehicles is the first in the region to receive the new "Sapphire" branding, which is currently being rolled out across the Arriva UK Group.

Following the entry into service of a batch of new Dennis Trident 2/Alexander Enviro 400MMC vehicles on "Sapphire" services X21/X22 (Newbiggin - Ashington - Newcastle), this vehicle has transferred from Ashington Depot to Belmont. Its sub-branding for services X21/X22 has been removed and as such this vehicle now carries generic "Sapphire" branding, allowing it to be allocated... see more

This vehicle has received "MAX" branding, with sub-branding for service 308 (Blyth - Whitley Bay - Coast Road - Newcastle). The combined 'up to every 7 minute' frequency with the "MAX" 306 service is promoted in the branding.
