Following the entry into service of a batch of new Dennis Trident 2/Alexander Enviro 400MMC vehicles on "Sapphire" services X21/X22 (Newbiggin - Ashington - Newcastle), this vehicle has transferred from Ashington Depot to Jesmond. Its sub-branding for services X21/X22 has been replaced by sub-branding for services 43/44/45. This group of services is being upgraded to replace the elderly DAF DB250RS/Alexander ALX400 vehicles allocated to these routes at the moment, following recent complaints from The Gosforth Residents Association regarding pollution caused by these buses on the High Street.
