With this batch of buses having been officially unveiled at Ashington Leisure Centre by local MP Ian Lavery on July 21st 2017, this vehicle has now entered service at Ashington Depot.

This vehicle has received "Sapphire" branding, with sub-branding for services X21/X22 (Newbiggin - Ashington - Newcastle). This batch of vehicles is the first in the region to receive the new "Sapphire" branding, which is currently being rolled out across the Arriva UK Group.

This vehicle, which carries a two-tone blue base livery, has arrived into the Arriva North East fleet. It is currently being prepared for service at Ashington Depot. Representing an investment of approximately £2.9m, this batch of vehicles have been ordered to replace the older ADL Enviro400s currently allocated to "Sapphire" services X21/X22 (Newbiggin - Ashington - Newcastle). Internally; they feature Esteban Civic V3 seating complete with e-leather, free Wi-Fi, 'Next Stop' audio-visual announcements and USB charging points.

Following the entry into service of a batch of new Dennis Trident 2/Alexander Enviro 400MMC vehicles on "Sapphire" services X21/X22 (Newbiggin - Ashington - Newcastle), this vehicle has transferred from Ashington Depot to Jesmond. This vehicle has received "MAX" branding, with sub-branding for service 308 (Blyth - Whitley Bay - Coast Road - Newcastle). The combined 'up to every 7 minute' frequency with the "MAX" 306 service is promoted in the branding.

In order to upgrade the 56/57/57A/86 group of services, this vehicle has entered service at Belmont Depot. Acting as direct replacements for the Optare Solos currently allocated to these services, the displaced minibuses are expected to cascade to Blyth Depot in order to allow for the withdrawal of the Mini Pointer Darts allocated to service 1.
