This brand identity encompasses services 95/96 (Newcastle - Gateshead - Lobley Hill - Dunston - MetroCentre), 97 (Newcastle - Gateshead - Lobley Hill - Whickham - Fellside Park - Swalwell - MetroCentre) and 98/X98 (Whickham - Newcastle). The brand refers to a legend from the Lobley Hill area, where all of these services operate. The story takes place around Western Gateshead in the 1800s, and is a piece of folklore regarding highwayman (robbers who stole from travellers, usually travelling by horse).
August 2006 Go North East Prior to new branding being launched; this vehicle has been treated to a mid-life refurbishment at Thornton Brothers, Ashington, which includes an external repaint into a plain lime green base livery, and internal work including deep cleaning of the interior of the vehicle, renewal of floor coverings, cleaning all seat frames and refurbishing seats, and repainting all ceiling covings, side panels, drivers cab and handpoles.
