Following the cascade of Scania N94UD/East Lancs OmniDekka 6141 (YN04 GJY) and 6142 (YN04 GJZ) to Stanley, this vehicle has been withdrawn from service at Stanley Depot. It was the final example of its type within the fleet at Stanley.

Although originally intended to be withdrawn following the Great North Run, to assist in the coverage of extra vehicle requirements for this event (up to an additional 90 buses), this vehicle will instead be retained in the fleet at Stanley Depot as a replacement for Dennis Trident/Plaxton President 3885 (NK51 UCN) which has been withdrawn.

Following the end of the two-phase Major Line Closure taking place between Monday 31st July and Saturday 2nd September 2017 to allow for work at Northumberland Park station and track and bridge renewal work which forms part of the £350m Metro: all change modernisation programme, this vehicle has returned to service at Stanley Depot. Though originally expected to be withdrawn after use on the Metro Replacement contract; this vehicle will instead be retained until after the Great North Run, to assist in the coverage of extra vehicle requirements for this event (up to an additional 90 buses).

Due to a higher vehicle requirement for the second phase of the Major Line Closure, taking place between Monday 31st July and Saturday 2nd September 2017 to allow for work at Northumberland Park station and track and bridge renewal work which forms part of the £350m Metro: all change modernisation programme, this vehicle has transferred from Stanley Depot to Riverside, to operate Metro Replacement service 900.

A large number of double-deck vehicles are required over the summer months, due to Go North East being awarded with the contracts to operate additional services for special events and Metro Replacement. As such; this vehicle, which would have otherwise been withdrawn in line with the gradual cascade of Scania CN230UB/Scania Omnicitys 5234 - 5238 to Stanley following the entry into service of the former "Blaydon Racers" branded Mercedes Citaros on services 12/12A, has instead been moved into a float/reserve capacity at Stanley Depot, and will transfer between depots where required.

Following service changes taking place on Sunday 6th November 2016 which saw the off-peak weekday frequency on "Red Arrows" service X1 decrease to every 12 minutes, this vehicle has transferred from Washington Depot to Stanley, which will allow for the withdrawal of a step-entrance Volvo Olympian/Northern Counties Palatine 2 vehicle from the fleet.

First Group approached a number of bus operators up and down the United Kingdom to provide transport for them during the Commonwealth Games which are being held in Glasgow this year. Go North East has provided a total of 21 vehicles for the duration of the event, with this vehicle being just one. They are being held overnight at First Glasgow's depot on Tollcross Road, Parkhead.
