Vehicle History

September 2020 Go North East Photograph by Following the upgrade of services X9/X10 to an interim allocation of Caetano Levante bodied Volvo B9R and Volvo B11RTs, pending delivery of the ex-Oxford Plaxton Elitei interdeck coaches, this vehicle has transferred from Riverside Depot to Hexham.
June 2020 Go North East Photograph by From Monday 1 June 2020, in line with guidance from the government, Go North East's bus services will start returning to what can be considered a 'normal' level of service on weekdays (albeit still reduced on weekends), also with some minor changes which had originally been planned to take place from 17 May 2020. As such, this vehicle has transferred from Deptford Depot to Riverside.
May 2020 Go North East With an expectant announcement from the government this weekend that some 'lockdown' restrictions could be relaxed, there may be an increase in demand for bus services. Therefore, some services are going to be operated by larger vehicles, to allow greater social distancing on-board buses, and Go North East will deploy up to 10 'hot spare' vehicles at key bus stations over the morning and evening peaks. As such, this vehicle has been reinstated at Deptford.
May 2020 Go North East With an expected announcement from the UK Government on Sunday 10 May to relax some of the current "lockdown" restrictions in the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which could lead to an increased number of passengers travelling on Go North East's bus services, further re-allocations and service allocation revisions are being made, in order to increase social distancing on-board Go North East's bus services. This will include double-deck buses being allocated to services ordinarily allocated single-decks, and single-deck buses being allocated to those services which had been temporarily allocated minibuses for the duration of the crisis. Therefore this vehicle has returned to service at Deptford Depot.
April 2020 Go North East Further service changes have taken place due to the reduced demand for bus services as a result of the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. As such, this vehicle has been taken out of service. It is expected to be formally delicensed closer to the end of the month, in order to allow the company to claim a tax refund.
March 2020 Go North East On March 23 2020, Boris Johnson placed the country on "lockdown", enforcing rules on people only leaving the house to shop for necessities, to exercise once a day, for medical needs or to provide care, or to travel to and from work (if they can't work from home). Shops, pubs, restaurants and theatres have all been closed, as well as mass gatherings being banned, schools being closed, and sporting events being cancelled. Therefore, further changes were made to bus timetables from Saturday 28 March, reflecting a mass reduction in customer demand for buses. As part of these timetable revisions; Chester-le-Street, Percy Main and Washington Depots were temporarily 'mothballed' with services operated out of key depots Consett, Deptford (including Peterlee outstation) and Riverside (including Hexham outstation) only. Therefore, this vehicle has transferred from Riverside Depot to Deptford.
March 2020 Go North East Due to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, there is falling customer demand and available resources. Therefore, to combat this during these unprecedented times, Go North East has reduced its service levels from Monday 23 March to run enhanced Sunday timetables rather than the full normal weekday output (Sunday service levels, plus some extra morning journeys for key workers, and a small number of contracted school/works services). As such - due to the lower number of vehicles being required at the moment - a number of transfers have taken place to ensure services are operated by the most fuel-efficient, economic and reliable buses. One such transfer is of this vehicle from Chester-le-Street Depot to Riverside, in order to operate scholars services.
January 2020 Go North East Photograph by Due to the delay in the delivery of the new vehicles for "X-lines" service X21; there aren't enough Wright StreetDecks to cover the PVR of this service, now it has increased in frequency to operate every 15 minutes between Newcastle and Durham, and has been extended from Tindale Crescent to West Auckland. As such, this vehicle has transferred from Riverside Depot to Chester-le-Street, as it is of a high specification internally, featuring high-back Esteban Civic V3 seats, free Wi-Fi, power sockets, and an audio-visual passenger information system.
July 2019 Go North East In partnership with Gateshead Council; this vehicle has received exhaust modifications, increasing the Euro standard of this bus from Euro 5 to Euro 6.
December 2017 Go North East Following completion of repaint and internal modifications (including fitment of tip-up seats for a buggy bay and fitment of 'Next Stop' audio-visual announcements), this vehicle has been reinstated at Riverside Depot.
November 2017 Go North East Photograph by Having previously carried "Tyne Tees Xpress" branding, this vehicle has been repainted into Go North East's new corporate livery, carrying the tagline "No change? | Get your bus ticket on your phone with our mobile app".
November 2017 Go North East Following the introduction of new vehicles on services X9/X10 (Newcastle - Middlesbrough), this vehicle has been temporarily withdrawn from service. Whilst temporarily withdrawn, this vehicle will undergo repaint as well as internal modifications, which will see the installation of tip-up seats to create a buggy bay as well as the fitment of 'Next Stop' audio-visual announcements, better matching the internal specification of the buses allocated to "Tyne Valley Ten" services 10/10A/10B.
February 2014 Go North East Photograph by Following the closure of Gateshead and Winlaton depots, this vehicle has been transferred to the brand new Riverside Depot. Riverside Depot replaces the existing depots at Sunderland Road in Gateshead and Winlaton which date back to the days of the tramways.
August 2012 Go North East Photograph by This vehicle has entered service at Gateshead Depot.
August 2012 Go North East Ahead of its entry into service, this vehicle has received "Tyne Tees Xpress" branding, for services X9/X10 (Newcastle - Middlesbrough).
July 2012 Go North East Photograph by This vehicle, which carries a striking maroon base livery with a gold painted 'X' towards the rear of the vehicle, has arrived into the Go North East fleet. It features Wi-Fi and power sockets, and is currently being prepared for service at Saltmeadows Road Depot. Once prepared for service, it is expected to be allocated to Gateshead Depot, for use on services X9/X10 (Newcastle - Middlesbrough).
