From Monday 1 June 2020, in line with guidance from the government, Go North East's bus services will start returning to what can be considered a 'normal' level of service on weekdays (albeit still reduced on weekends), also with some minor changes which had originally been planned to take place from 17 May 2020. As such, this vehicle has now been reinstated at Chester-le-Street.

Go North East
Due to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, there is falling customer demand and available resources. Therefore, to combat this during these unprecedented times, Go North East has reduced its service levels from Monday 23 March to run enhanced Sunday timetables rather than the full normal weekday output (Sunday service levels, plus some extra morning journeys for key workers, and a small number of contracted school/works services). As such - due to the lower number of vehicles being required at the moment - a number of transfers have taken place to ensure services are operated by the most fuel-efficient, economic and reliable buses. One such transfer is of this vehicle from Chester-le-Street Depot to Riverside, in order to operate scholars services.

Due to the delay in the entry into service of the new ADL Enviro400 vehicles at Consett, and changes already being made to drivers duties and running boards based on double-deck vehicles being in service at Consett, this vehicle has temporarily entered service at Saltmeadows Road Depot (in Brighton & Hove base livery), allowing similar examples in Go North East livery to be temporarily allocated to the X30 service at Consett.

This vehicle, previously with Brighton & Hove as their 641, has been acquired by Go North East and re-numbered 6166. It is one of five joining the fleet to enable the withdrawal of older double-decks in the fleet, and to assist with the displacement of dual-door vehicles from Chester-le-Street's fleet, following vehicle re-allocations in September 2019 which resulted in Chester-le-Street being allocated five dual-door buses due to a requirement for higher capacity vehicles to be used on Nexus Miscellaneous Works contracts instead.
