Though intended to be allocated to services X9/X10 (Newcastle - Middlesbrough) from Monday 11th September 2017, this vehicle has entered service at Riverside Depot on a special service operating for the Great North Run.
September 2017 Go North East
Prior to entering service; this vehicle has received "X9|X10" branding, featuring the tagline "Direct to the heart of the city". In order to combat the strong public perception that people who travel on public transport are beneath those on the Social Class hierarchy compared to those who travel by car, and to show car users that they do have some commonality with bus users, each vehicle with "X9|X10" branding will feature a different type of bus user. This vehicle, which carries a midnight blue base livery, has arrived into the Go North East fleet. It is currently being prepared for service at Saltmeadows Road Depot. Representing an investment of over £1.6m, this batch of vehicles have been ordered to upgrade "Tyne Tees Xpress" services X9 and X10. These vehicles feature the latest technology, and are fitted with Volvo's new 5.1 litre D5K-240 engine, which is Euro 6 emission compliant. Internally; they feature Esteban Civic V3 seating complete with leather and soft topper foam for added comfort; four tables on the upper saloon; two-colour Tarabus 'Wood Effect' flooring; and blue accent lighting, which is fitted underneath seats and on the stairwell, to provide extra light on the gangway. Like all new vehicles; they feature Wi-Fi, 'Next Stop' audio-visual announcements and USB connections as standard, though these vehicles also feature three-pin power sockets on the upper saloon tables.
November 2013 Go North East
Ahead of impending cascade due to the arrival of new Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TL vehicles which will see allocation to the "Cobalt Clipper" 309/310 services, this vehicle has been repainted into a light blue base livery. It is expected that the vehicle will transfer to Chester-le-Street Depot, where it will see allocation to "Whey Aye Five 0" service 50.
November 2018 Go North East
To allow greater flexibility of the Optare Versa allocations at Chester-le-Street Depot, the "Lambton Worm" brand is being removed from the 34/34A services, following in the footsteps of the removal of the "Waggonway" brand from services 28/28A earlier this year. November 2012 Go North East
Allocated fleet number 9136 during its time at Go North East, this vehicle has now entered service at Washington Depot. Following a period of driver familiarisation, this vehicle will see primary allocation to "Red Arrows" service X1.
November 2017 Go North East
Following temporary loan to Crook Depot, this vehicle has now returned to service at Chester-le-Street.
