Go North East, in partnership with passenger transport executive Nexus, has been awarded funding which helps support an element of the additional capital cost of electric buses and depot charging infrastructure. This will build upon Go North East’s sizeable annual investment in low emission diesel buses - the region’s first zero emission full electric buses will be an important part of efforts to tackle air pollution and will also provide valuable operating experience for future electric vehicles. Go North East had an electric Yutong E12 LF, numbered 9082 (YK66 CBC), in the fleet last April, which was trialled on service X66 between Gateshead and the Metrocentre. This is another electric vehicle available to purchase, and will be trialled on "Saltwell Park" services 53/54.
