It'll never change. The hobby, as any other hobby, attracts morons. Hopefully they get the book thrown at them.

Morons Dodgy

I'm guessing this is why various trains on the East Coast Main Line were running late today. This annoyed me as it wrecked my plans for some rail photos at Northallerton and Thirsk today, especially at the latter as I couldn't get any mobile data signal so I had to do things the old fashioned way and simply guess what would pass thorough and when.
If the guy was a member on this forum, he may have mentioned this in the 'what's annoying you' thread

Mind VTEC have gained a lot of publicity out of it!

Sounds like the sort of thing that would happen to me!

Although I did have some issues snapping Reliance's BA15BXS in Easingwold yesterday as some bint plonked her car behind the other Reliance bus that was at the bus stop, so the bus ended up having to stop in the middle of the road, just had time to snap this photo whilst a certain somebody was boarding: https://flic.kr/p/ErPDbb

Hopefully the link works.
A tender has gone out, in relation to investigating the feasibility options, ahead of a possible re-opening of lines between Bedford and East Anglia.
Cambridgeshire County Council is the body responsible for the tender.

That's what happens I guess.

It's what happens when you're hopeless and clueless with no regard to personal safety. For that to have happened I'm assuming they must have had most of their torso out of the window - not just their head. Got to be aware of the dangers especially on the cess side. Still incredibly tragic and I wouldn't be surprised to start seeing bars over the likes of Mark 3 windows from now on.

I wouldn't be surprised neither - either that or a requirement to have plug doors fitted as per Chiltern Mark III stock. I'm sure they have bars fitted to the stock that operates on Sellafield workers' trains.

Yes Cumbrian Coast LHCS has bars fitted but this is solely due to restrictions on the route between Maryport and Carlisle requiring either stewards or some preventative measure.

I've heard (and read) reports, that the guy involved in the Gatwick Express incident worked in the industry.

He was a Hitachi Rail engineer

Rail fares have gone up 25% over last 6 years.
Whilst over the last year, shareholder dividends have gone up by 21%.
I love how the media are reporting this latest fare increase widely as if it's something brand new and that has never happened before; whereas it goes up every January and has done since year dot. Inflation is the word of the day for them.

Metro seem to be the worst for it IMHO...
