That would probably explain what 6377 was doing on Thursday. Probably route testing/learning

Looks suspiciously like the X93 south of Middlesbrough
Via Washington, that's interesting

Interesting, I wonder if Arriva will better their X93 then. Although Arriva don't look like they'd buy new vehicles, the current B9s are coming up to 7 years old now on a demanding route.

7120 was seen at East Yorkshire's Anlaby Road depot this week. I think it's likely that GNE will be using those former X9/X10 coaches for the X11. They wouldn't be buying new vehicles for what appears to be a summer holiday route. If that's the case, I know I'd prefer a Levante over a B9 down the A19!

Would that be Washington services on the A1?

Might be one early journey south to north with a return from north to south at teatime and same going from north to south early morning with a teatime journey back south to north?

Ah right

Why would the coaches go down to EY when it looks to be a Riverside based service?, unless its doing training or going for a refurbishment/repaint at EY?

Due to the length of the route, I would of thought East Yorkshire would jointly operate the route with GNE.
I think its serving Washington Galleries. Its strange a new X11 has appeared

That's true, never thought of that.

Hopefully its more than one a day in each direction - think it'll get used in the Summer

Wonder how tickets will be worked for the service?

To me that screams a daily summer only service, in the same way the old ANE X60/X61 were.

With it seemingly stopping at Washington as well, I'd very much imagine that it's targeting the north end of the route rather than any of the X93 passengers. That said the B9s on the X93 are due for repaint into the new Sapphire livery now, so it's possible they receive an internal refresh too.

For those saying coach operation - I think that's very unlikely. For this to make money you need bums on seats, and a decker offers a significant increase in seating capacity compared to a coach. There's likely a very good reason why 6377 did that run the other day.

Would an interdeck not be suitable with 6377 deputising?

That's still a reduced capacity versus 6377, or any decker, though. I think we saw with the ANE ones that they essentially need to be full but with a decent percentage of fare payers. A coach full of pensioners probably won't pay the bills.
Really good to see a new service being introduced. Hopefully its a success and can lead to other network improvements.
From the Go North East page, they've registered a new service X11 running from Newcastle to Scarborough.

I think it makes sense for them to try something like this, even if it's an infrequent service. I'm a big believer that post-lockdown, bus companies need to be thinking of anything they can do to encourage customers back onto the buses, or for new people to try bus travel. All ideas should be considered, and in this case I think people will want their days out at the coast in the summer months so why not try something that goes down to their other operating area in Scarborough.

In fact I suggested the other day that Arriva could try extending the odd X93 to run down to the holiday camps beyond Scarborough, or make it a new service.

It'll be interesting to see the details of the X11, and if Arriva react to it.
