I see the little darlings are out in force today. Arriva in Durham have had three buses taken out of service for broken windows in as many hours.
This seems to be really bad lately and they have the brass necks to do it in broad daylight too.

"#DURHAM - Service 56 - Unfortunately due to youths putting a brick through the bus window the 15:19 service 56 from Ferryhill towards Durham will not be able to operate, sorry for any inconvenience caused."

How long before someone gets seriously injured?

The timed 22 won’t be running as the 23 had window done. 23 changes to the 22 at Sunderland and vice versa

Service 201 solo nearly had window put out but just missed the window and hit the side of bus

The fact that police seem to respond to late or not at all. Doesn't help the fact. It's absolutely stupid how much vandle goes on..I remember a while ago GNE being on Look North dur to buses in the Houghton area due to vandle and they didn't want to pull bus services out of the area

We've lost about 20,000 police officers in England and Wales since 2010, which doesn't help, but even with those 20,000, its impossible for them to be everywhere at once. Especially in an area as vast as County Durham.

As its likely to be kids, they'll have legged it as soon as the brick or stones have been thrown, so it becomes a cat and mouse game for the police.

GNE have pulled buses out of Houghton before and I believe Arriva have somewhere on Teesside too. To be honest, as much as its a disruption to those that need the services, it's probably the only thing that is going to apply enough leverage to deal with the problem.
Little arseholes,just shows people (not just youths),cant appreciate or keep anything nice,which leaves innocent people being slapped with the same brush as the offenders,boils my blood
Atleast 1 Arriva Solo has been hit tonight, really this thread should be moved to Bus Operations, Management & Infrastructure as there seems to be re-occurance of vandalism with Winlaton Bus Station just being avoided a few days ago and X20's been destroyed while in Storage.
There have been a few reports of antisocial behaviour in the area recently but from reports on next door, it sounds like an Angel had its windows put through by youths in Pity Me, last night.
Quote:Due to antisocial behaviour and damage caused  to our vehicles our service 8 & 20 will have no option but to terminate at the Round Robin (Herron Foods).  Northumbria Police are aware and assisting. We have had a number of buses damaged in the last hour.
Seems more anti social behaviour on SC
A 58's window has been smashed, GNE/ANE/SCNE should start posting the CCTV

Of what?
A cynic would suggest the CCTV was to stop the 'claims' going in, rather than to actually protect their windows.

The CCTV of the vehicles which have been hit by rocks, apparently a few more have been hit in the Stagecoach Sunderland Area

About lunchtime the 20 was diverted to go down to Chester Road and do the Pennywell loop the same as the 39. Apparently that was due to things being thrown at buses. Didn't hear a mention of the 8 on that radio call though.
Not allowed

Not allowed under data protection. Even the management can only look at 10 minutes either side of an incident.

What about the police sharing footage?
(03 Dec 2022, 3:34 pm)Unber43 Wrote: [ -> ]What about the police sharing footage?
That's a different matter entirely. Police may obtain and share information for identity purposes relating to a crime.
(03 Dec 2022, 3:34 pm)Unber43 Wrote: [ -> ]What about the police sharing footage?

The police are allowed to do so because they are classed as a 'competent authority' (although their competency may be questioned in light of Sarah Everard and other recent cases), and sharing of CCTV information is allowed where it is deemed to be necessary or proportionate (eg. duties of law enforcement or crime prevention).

Bus companies are not 'competent authorities' (nor should they be), and therefore have to follow the same guidelines as everybody else with regard to CCTV and GDPR.
Thanks for the info
