About time. I hope it is a P&R kind of station. Would be hugely beneficial to Peterlee/Horden/Blackhall.

Don’t believe the unions. They are playing political ways now. What i mean by that is they are trying to get the Railways back into public ownership which they say will bring benefits but only too their staff wage increases. Most Rail companies make 1-2% profit from the Rail Ticket with a few expectations such as Cross Country which has a monopoly on the Routes they serve and very high prices.

I cant upload images for some reason, but last year's report from the ORR outlines how much profit (or not) each TOC makes.
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://orr.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0006/26439/uk-rail-industry-financial-information-2016-17.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjHoNWEtNTfAhVNyxoKHYHIAE0QFjABegQICRAB&usg=AOvVaw1kdKL6ObnaTKgoyw9JjYPJ

(hopefully the link works).

So although they may only make 1-2% profit from a rail ticket, multiply that percentage by x and obviously there is the potential to end up at y.
I've no idea whether that ties in with the figures put forward by Aslef mind.

Interesting thanks for the link, unions will always say things to get the public behind them which is at the minute keeping the guards which I support to a degree but they have been unwilling to the passengers which is in return for northern meaning strike after strike.
