Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - June 2014 - upt50k - 01 Jun 2014

(31 May 2014, 9:01 am)tyresmoke They have been making modifications to the engine mountings, and also installing new E-fan micro-hybrid technology which should reduce overheating, and also cut fuel consumption too. See http://avidtp.com/products/micro-hybrid-systems/
50 Optare Solos are in the process of having the same technology installed, indeed I believe some have had it a few months now.
looked at avid site seems to be an ideal mod. could have done with this on the prestiges

Some form of promotional video has just been released for service 308... I feel I may have missed the first in the series, because I do not understand who 'Frankie' is at all.

Perhaps a play on "Frankie goes to Hollywood" also noticed the 308 Hybrids are gaining this on the upper deck front window

Just noticed the front top roof line on the 308 gemini hybrids. It is a straighter line rather than the usual oval. Go northeast newer purchases seem oval,is this a lower height version or different body spec?

Yes, the Arriva Geminis are low height, whereas Northern's are full height. The low height ones always look squashed to me and not as aesthetically pleasing as the full height ones.

And I wish Arriva would stop spoiling the view with their stupid stickers on the front windows - in fact I want all companies to realise windows are for looking out of and not for obliterating with publicity.

(31 May 2014, 7:35 am)upt50k What are the mods being done? Is the re seating still cancelled

Funny you should mention that, as at work today someone who I didn't know knew a thing about buses came up to me and said, "You know them Temsas..... is there any chance they could get new seats in them?"!!

Totally agree.

As we're seeing pictures of the new sapphire routes/E400's emerging, I'm wondering if any pictures exist of the Sapphire Streetlite's yet? I'm intrigued as to how they look

RE: Arriva North East - Latest - Mark - 03 Jun 2014

The first Sapphire Streetlites for North East are due to be ready around the first week in July.

RE: Arriva North East - Latest - 9920up - 04 Jun 2014

New arrivals are due to start soon so should bring about some shuffling of allocations and subsequent withdrawals.. Mention has been made before as to the retirement of the many Darts from Darlington. Including the S-KHN, R-COO series and also th V reg MPD's that makes 18 to go this year. 5 Omni cities are due as part of max refurb, etc, so what else is likely to arrive. Speculation would be for the potential for5 Solos when the streetlites arrive. Anyone heard anything definite?

Withdrawn 4005 still parked in Blyth depot, where it has been for the last few months. It has it's front lower panel removed (ready for towing?) and a yellow wavy line painted across the front! I guess maybe to indicate that is not to be used.

It will likely go with the next batch of vehicles to be withdrawn (61 in total over the next few months!) so along with everything else residing in depots around the company, there will likely be 70+ vehicles to go for scrap/sale.
The yellow wavy paint is just to stop it being used in Arriva livery by any other company, though whether it will get sold for onward sale is debatable!

(07 Jun 2014, 12:56 pm)Richard Smiles Pocket Fleet Lists for Arriva North East

Ashington, Blyth, Darlington, Durham, Jesmond, Redcar/Whitby & Stockton Depots

Just to let you know of a typo on the Darlington publication, as you currently have 1405s registration down as NK08BPO which should of course be NK09BPO.

I'm not sure if 7626 is allocated to Stockton or Durham (I only recognise 7619 and 7620) but it was on the X2. Transfer?

RE: Arriva North East - Latest - David McGloin - 07 Jun 2014

7626 7627 both new to Durham
