RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - March 2015 - mb134 - 20 Mar 2015

Would anyone be able to help me with this:
On Sunday I need to get from either Newcastle or Blyth to Royal Quays, I know I'll need to get the 309 and 19, but which ticket will I be best off with?

Many thanks in advance Smile

If you are using the 309 from Blyth, then you will need an Orange/Blue Zone Buzzfare which is £6.20, from just Newcastle only then that is Blue Zone which is £4.75, if you are 18 then obviously it will be cheaper providing you have a Key Card.

There is also the Cobalt Clipper Day Saver which is £3.75, which you can use across the entire 309/310, but then you would have to walk down to Royal Quays from North Shields Town Centre, unless you pay for a single fare, in which case you might aswell buy one of the above options.

(20 Mar 2015, 1:03 pm)aureolin Can I suggest we talk about the topic, I.e. the latest from Go North East, rather than sending out a search party for half the forum?

Go North East may have implemented AVL, but I'm afraid that doesn't extend to Dan's whereabouts being on a live map. Smile

Riverside-based DAF SB120/Wright Cadet 8244 (NA52 BUW) has been on loan to Hexham for the past three days, covering for Volvo B6BLE/Plaxton Concept 2000 8293 (NK54 PHV) which has been withdrawn and is in storage at Saltmeadows Road whilst awaiting disposal. Prior to this loan, Hexham was using its reserve allocation in the absence of 8293, though two MPDs are VOR at the moment, meaning this has not been possible recently.

No further Streetlites have been delivered to Go North East since my last post, though a number have been shipped over from Ireland and are awaiting delivery at Heysham. Nor have any further vehicles arrived at Saltmeadows for repaint.

Tyne Tees Xpress 6046 has broken down on the stand at Eldon Square. Judging by the large queue of people, it was supposed to be doing the 16:00 X10.

Cheers both, as you've both mentioned the Key card, if I download the app to my phone, will I still be able to get cheaper tickets or do I have to jave have an actual card?

Get around tickets on the mobile app are only valid with a valid get around id card

6042 appears broken down outside Stratstone Jag on the A690.
Passed it in either direction, with a period of time between.

There was a purple Solar, displaying 'Engineering on test' climbing up Houghton Cut, so possibly a replacement.

I only caught the end of the feature, but the Open Day got a mention on Radio Newcastle a short while back.
Interviewing someone from the driving school and a female driver, a female reporter had a go behind the wheel.
Imagine it will be on iplayer later.

I heard something similar.

There's a lot of emphasis being put on recruiting female drivers, which is very refreshing to see.

What bus did GNE bring to the Sunderland driver thing?

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - March 2015 - Adam - 20 Mar 2015

Forgot to report yesterday, but Coaster 5251 has now lost its rear advertisement for whatever it was actually advertising (was it Tynemouth's aquarium?)

8253 expired at Concord around 1500 this afternoon working an 82A to Birtley which resulted in a rather long queue at The Galleries around 1530 awaiting the arrival of a replacement.

I would expect that GNE offer good terms.
They also have several excellent female drivers.

A 'Northumberland Independent' operator seems to be constantly seeking drivers, though the reason might be because they don't retain their existing ones.

When I first seen this picture, I thought it must have been an attempted 'coup' on board a GNE Gemini... Wink

I think I was a bit 'gullable' for thinking that in hindsight...!

Seen several Job Adverts for the above whilst I was Ingeus yesterday, the Advisors also seem to be doing a bit promotion on it to get anyone with a Driving Licence into work by mentioning the Sunderland/MetroCentre recruitment days, regardless of whether they are interested the position or not.
