RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - buss14 - 02 Jul 2015 sorry for asking thousands of questions just i have been looking at the fleet list for arriva. the description at the bottom says 6 of ex north west pulsars are being put inton sapphire spec but what is expected to the remaining ones are they all going to the same depot or are they being split in to different depots? sorry about my lack of puntuation and sorry if this has been mentioned before RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - tyresmoke - 02 Jul 2015 All 10 will be going to Durham depot to be utilised on Sapphire service 6. Alongside E400s 7519/20/21 (to be) transferred from Ashington RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - mb134 - 02 Jul 2015 (02 Jul 2015, 7:34 pm)tyresmoke All 10 will be going to Durham depot to be utilised on Sapphire service 6. Alongside E400s 7519/20/21 (to be) transferred from Ashington When are these being transferred? RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - Adrian - 02 Jul 2015 (02 Jul 2015, 7:34 pm)tyresmoke All 10 will be going to Durham depot to be utilised on Sapphire service 6. Alongside E400s 7519/20/21 (to be) transferred from Ashington I'm not convinced that the E400s are suitable for that route... RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - mb134 - 02 Jul 2015 (02 Jul 2015, 8:38 pm)aureolin I'm not convinced that the E400s are suitable for that route... Isn't a great deal of choice though? I believe you use the X12 (please correct me if I'm wrong!! ), would you say the Gemini's used on there are better than the E400's used elsewhere, as those are the only real alternatives I can see for Sapphire refurb (obviously not those exact ones) RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - Adrian - 02 Jul 2015 (02 Jul 2015, 8:44 pm)mb134 Isn't a great deal of choice though? The Geminis are as flat as a fart now. They've no power in them for a bus that's only 6 years old in most (if not all cases), and I'm convinced they're responsible for some of the issues with timekeeping on the X12. The Pulsars on the other hand can absolutely power through the route. The 6 is a similar kettle of fish. A lot of rural areas for the bus to make up time, whether it be between villages, or on the Sunderland Bridge approach to Durham City. The Pulsars have no issues with this in my opinion, but the Lowlanders that tend to make their way on there are shockingly bad. RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - Sparkle - 02 Jul 2015 (01 Jul 2015, 11:51 am)Kuyoyo Indeed as the talk was Durham would take 7519-21 for the 6 when that goes Sapphire - but that would result in a net lose for Durham and with a large number of routes requiring deckers (X12, X4/X5, 6, X20) I think we'll have to wait and see what happens. Aren't Redcar lucky! They some would have served Middlesbrough routes better! RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - Kuyoyo - 02 Jul 2015 (02 Jul 2015, 8:57 pm)Sparkle Aren't Redcar lucky! They some would have served Middlesbrough routes better! Redcar already have the rest of the UK's examples, hence why Redcar are getting the rest of the stock models (same as a large number of the stock Centros have now ended up with Yorkshire Tiger). Stockton's allocation will be largely Pulsar by the end of the year bar 7 Solos, 10 Streetlites and 1923/4 (if they stay) RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - mb134 - 02 Jul 2015 (02 Jul 2015, 8:48 pm)aureolin The Geminis are as flat as a fart now. Oh dear, if they're as flat as Blyth's, then the Enviro's will be better hands down, I prefer Ashington's 57-plates to Blyth's Geminis, as I've said on a number of occasions Which Lowlanders, the Y-EBR batch, or the 57 plate batch? If they do come back to Ashington I hope they have a proper look at them before putting them into service... RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - palatine3833 - 03 Jul 2015 (02 Jul 2015, 8:48 pm)aureolin The Geminis are as flat as a fart now. The Pulsars on the other hand can absolutely power through the route. Having done two round trips on the X12 this week, with 7619 and 7626 I can say that there is no issue with the buses that could affect timekeeping. I ended up holding the bus at 40mph between Coxhoe and Sedgefield and then Sedgefield and Stockton and yet was still on time. I think the issue lies with the drivers not being bothered about timekeeping, hoping that they can get knocked out of service etc. 7618 is the only Gemini which has a lack of power as it does struggle on the hill beside Shincliffe Village, but 7619/26/27 are flying machines. RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - buss14 - 03 Jul 2015 (02 Jul 2015, 9:40 pm)mb134 Oh dear, if they're as flat as Blyth's, then the Enviro's will be better hands down, I prefer Ashington's 57-plates to Blyth's Geminis, as I've said on a number of occasions i though it might be better that 2 57 reg lowlanders go to jesmond and 2 go to blyth and they 7445/7446 would transfer to ashington and 2 of blyths geminis then there is a bit of variation for the x20 it may not actually happen because i know jesmond use 7445/7446 on the 44 to morpeth RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - mb134 - 03 Jul 2015 (03 Jul 2015, 12:40 pm)buss14 i though it might be better that 2 57 reg lowlanders go to jesmond and 2 go to blyth and they 7445/7446 would transfer to ashington and 2 of blyths geminis then there is a bit of variation for the x20 Don't think Arriva would do that, as there would be very little logic behind it, Ashington have never had the Gemini's for any real period of time, therefore drivers would need training, and I'd imagine so would mechanics. Variation would only be of any interest to enthusiasts. Likewise, Blyth and Jesmond have never had those Lowlanders, unsure if they are any different to the Y-EBR batch mechanically RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - buss14 - 03 Jul 2015 (03 Jul 2015, 1:05 pm)mb134 Don't think Arriva would do that, as there would be very little logic behind it, Ashington have never had the Gemini's for any real period of time, therefore drivers would need training, and I'd imagine so would mechanics. It looks like Ashington have done something with them, unsure what, but they are completely different to the slow heaps of junk I often labelled them as in the past, so credit to either the drivers, or Ashington mechanics... You can thank the mechanics. The same happened with me on 7501 a few weeks ago it had its Econospeed turned off and absolutely flew. I think Ashington have turned there ones off, not sure about the 14 reg ones though. RE: Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - Jimmi - 03 Jul 2015 The Solo repaints at Darlington continue and has moved onto the 11 reg Solos as 2866 has been treated. Arriva North East: 2866 / YJ11 OJB by Jimmi's Bus Photos, on Flickr As mentioned last night, many of Darlington's EcoCity's have now lost Arriva vinyls and "This bus runs on gas" taglines above the windows. I'm sure one of the 59 reg solos has lost its cream swoops on the side as well. Those EcoCitys will look good in the new livery I reckon. I think it says 2855 has been repainted in the news section of this site.
