(04 Aug 2015, 10:39 pm)Davie Service 28 used to be the 721 too, service X25 used to be the 725/726 then 25/25A

(04 Aug 2015, 10:54 pm)R852 PRG Are you sure? I recall being told it was an amalgamation of some services. 721 was Chester-le-Street - Birtley - Wrekenton - Gateshead - Newcastle according to the Bygone Era.

The 28 is an amalgamation of the 739/40 (between Chester and Grange Villa), 728 (between Grange Villa and Eighton Lodge) and 721/777 (Eighton Lodge - Newcastle).

Just too add to the discussion, can anyone remember the 730?

I'm sure that was the route that went from Chester-le-Street to Ouston via Birtley and Perkinsville?

I can. Sure it went via Drum and North Lodge at one point too.

Memory is hazy here, but an independent (Cousins?) had it in the early 90's. It seemed to come and go until GNE took it on in the early 2000's.

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - August 2015 - S813 FVK - 05 Aug 2015

I can remember the 734 which i think is effectively the 34/34A now between Chester-le-Street and Ouston only it didn't go around Urpeth Grange.

(05 Aug 2015, 8:37 am)S813 FVK Design a bus:
http://www.simplygo.com/news/design-a-go-north-east-bus-and-win

Am gonna design mine later might have it in the style of something cool but all will be revealed when am next to a PC am hoping to design a simple but effective design where people will enjoy and say "looks nice" will spend a jolly effort but first need some inspiration before coming up with the design eg its heritage it's current glory and of course today but you never know these days if your a winner or not eg once I was in a race in school 10 years ago against some really fast runners and I came in second when I thought I would finish in last place that was at monkton stadium p.s. one of my cousins has a class there

(04 Aug 2015, 10:24 pm)Jimmi Think someone should set up a thread for old busAes and old bus routes where people can share their memories, I've got a fair few routAes from when I was younger although some of my memories are slightly hazy now.

Ahem.....the bygone era thread perhaps Which is already in existenve but greatly under used.

(04 Aug 2015, 9:47 pm)citaro5284 Oh aye the X95 and X96...
X95 to Parkside via Concord and Hastings Hill/Grindon Mill and the X96 to Seaham Harbour via Boldon.

Use to finish work at 1700 and catch the 1717 X95 from Park Lane, got into Newcastle for just after 1800...operated by MCW Metrobuses!

the X96 got extended later in life from Seaham to Peterlee replacing GNE service 233.

used to work down Villette road many moons ago,  and I used to catch the X95 from top of Villette road at 17:10 to Grindon Mill, I remember once a old merc 200 series came along , I stood back as I thought it was a 144, I had to get another northern to park lane and jumped on the X95 there as their replaced the merc with the expresslink, most of been late getting into Park Lane from Sunderland so northern must of put on a merc to do the Sunderland to parkside and back to sunderland and the expresslink bus just waited until back on time from park lane.

OK but with respect and no offence intended. If users on the site can understand how to post on a topic I am certain they can find their own way around the site Surely

If users post in the right topic in the first place in the proper thread then we wouldn't have everything all mixed, too many new threads starting up in certain forums under the threads for a single question which the question could of been in one of the certain latest, odd etc... or under bus management.
