Basically what the Stagecoach Seasider was

RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - randomdude - 02 Oct 2021

It seems that the 79 has failed to operate a single journey so far today. Quite a change from the near perfect reliability that JH coaches provided on the service.

It did, theres pics of it on the internet of it being an Open Topper,it was also extended in 2012(ish) to serve Howdon Road to replace the 300,but that was short lived

RE: Gateshead Central Taxis - RMF1254 - 03 Oct 2021

The 333 is basically what is left of the frequent services which ran beyond Northumberland Square to connect with the ferry. In the sixties there was the 7 / 8 from Blyth / Whitley Bay and 12 (I think ) from Whitley Bay via Preston Vill. There was also a service which ran to the Fish Quay. At that time the before the Tyne Tunnel opened there were 2 vehicle and foot passenger ferries shuttling backwards and forwards. Later on the routes became the 309 and 317 which were supplemented by open top 327 in the summer which ran along the seafront from Whitley Bay. There was a connecting open top service at South Shields which, if I remember correctly, ran to Seaburn. Later again the open topper became the 333 operated by Northern and Northumbria.

That service was numbered 555, I believe. At some point it started at Bedes World in Jarrow too

I think that was more recent. The one I’m thinking of was started by the then PTE using the now preserved 1218.

Was it not the 536/537

I’ve got a few shots of 1218, the earlier one showing 510/511 and later ones showing 538. I don’t seem able to areach them.

The 7, 8 and 12 did indeed run as you say. When the tunnel opened in 1967, Northern's service 60 which ran Sunderland - East Boldon - Whiteleas - Biddick Hall - Jarrow was extended to Blyth via Shields and the coast and operated jointly with the Tynemouth company. Later the 7 and 8 took on the number 60. Later when services in the area were numbered 3xx, the Blyth - Sunderland one became the 310 and the Blyth - Shields ferry one became the 309. For a time I was a conductor, and the Blyth - Sunderland run was my favourite. There was for many years a service to the fish quay running from Northumberland Square and numbered 14. This service only operated at work times. Eventually these runs were tagged onto the 12. The 12 eventually became the 317.

Surprised there's nothing on the NEXUS site about it.

Won't be till probably Monday. 333 is also getting a tiny change to it and the 333/335/11 will be moved in North Shields due to Northumberland Square and Howard Street both being shut from the same day (13th)

Timetables are up on nexus website

There are changes to W1/W1A and W3 with Revised Route and Timetable. Any idea what's changing

The 10:20 W3, 10:30 W1 and 12:00 W1A appear to be withdrawn which seems like a slightly odd move.

Hmmm odd. Still don't get what the revised route means. As from the timetable I can't tell
