Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - March 2018 - Cock Robin - 01 Mar 2018

(28 Feb 2018, 5:58 pm)OrangeArrow49 I understand there are safety implications to consider but I feel strongly bus operators should get passengers back home before terminating services. We can't rely on public transport unfortunately.

I was meant to be volunteering today, but it was cancelled. The bus was running near enough to where I was going, so I didn't have any Stagecoach issues on this occasion, but I don't know what they expect would-be passengers to do when they stop running services without much/any notice. Stagecoach in SS and Sunderland have been really bad in running services, at least Newcastle services have largely been running to a good standard.

I remember Redcar United depot used to be always going on strike. I lived in Redcar then and one day I'd been to Scarborough and ended up having to walk back from Lingdale!

Well said. No wonder public transport is dying a death.

In Sunderland I dont blame the buses for going off early, the main roads are skating rinks never mind the estates, in over an hours driving never once did I spot an elusive yellow gritter, its the same everytime we get snow, the councils a joke

Only Go North East and Arriva are pulling services, Stagecoach are still running, although they're only using main roads on some routes.

Haven't seen a 23 on my road since Tuesday night.

We have had a couple of 16 buses running onto the estate, very brave drivers, although the gas buses look very sure footed, last time we had snow like this, we had darts and if memory serves me right they hit more than they missed, they just could not seem to stay straight or out of the gutters

Information from SNE twitter page:

Service X34: During challenging periods, double deckers may occasionally need to be replaced with the most suitable alternative vehicle. Please be assured that this service will always be operated by double deckers when operational circumstances permit us to do so.

Traffic delays or faults with the ADL E400s?

Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - March 2018 - Dan - 09 Mar 2018

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I hadn't seen an E400 on the X34 for quite a while. Even now, I still haven't seen one. I use the Felling Bypass at various parts of the day quite regularly on weekdays, so see the X34 quite often.

I saw two "E's" branded E300s on the other day - though this may have been the same once twice, as I've stopped bothering to even try and get the fleet numbers now.

Allocations to the X24 service are still just as woeful - though it's saying something when you stand a greater chance of seeing a branded Omnilink on the X24, than an Enviro400 on the X34!

Having two single deckers on the X34 seems as if there are reliability issues with the ADL E400s, as I thought that the fourth (spare) ADL E400 would help to keep the timings right (and possibly one single decker on a rare occasion in the event of severe delays).

What the X34 needs is brand new vehicles - not second-hand/cascaded vehicles. I also think that they should have kept the frequency at 20 minutes.

The problem with the 20 min frequency was there was too much lay over times as the journey time is 45 mins each way(very tight though) and giving it 1hr 30 for a round trip which did not work out timewise on 20 mins.

it would be better now and for timekepping to keep both x24 and x34 every 30 mins but interwork at Newcastle changing terminus to one of the bus stations giving both services double decker routes.

Heard gas buses for the X24, although now it seems they don't offer "Gas" on the new E200/300 bodies for single deckers.......

Not sure how true that is though, hopefully the order will appear soon.

X24 could get Gas buses off the 3,12,13,16 or 20, if any of those buses get new buses, however if any were to receive gas deckers, i would think the frequency would drop, so every 15 minutes on the 16 etc.

I get the 09:40 from Newcastle everyday and it’s an E400 90% of the time, if not more.

If X24 does get Gas buses, what will they do with scaina's?

Hopefully dump them in a back lane, but tbh, they aren't bad buses, just don't think they're right for the route, due to their age.

RE: Stagecoach North East: Latest News & Discussion - March 2018 - Panasonic44 - 09 Mar 2018

Well I like them compared to Gas buses they use more comfortable. Im hoping they use it to come into Hebburn hehe.
