RE: Go North East: 2018/19 Financial Year Order Predictions - Michael - 13 Mar 2019

(13 Mar 2019, 5:48 pm)Dan It's been a while since we've last had some activity in this thread...

Go North East MD Martijn Gilbert was the guest speaker at a group meeting of the Northern Group Enthusiasts Club yesterday evening. During the talk, Martijn confirmed that Go North East have placed an order for 44 new vehicles this year (33 double-deck and 11 single-deck).

With this extra detail now in our hands, does anyone want to have another guess at which vehicles may have been ordered, and for which services?

Thought it would be other way around and have more single deckers on order.

(13 Mar 2019, 6:45 pm)NewcastleOne X1/1a And X66 for Deckers and 93/94 or 97/97a for Singles

That's only 18 deckers out of the 33 (3 spares) = 21

Can the X66 use deckers on the centrelink though?

Yes even the odd 69xx Gemini has appeared on it.

33 deckers?

Doing my calculations, that could mean:

- 13x for Red Arrows (+2 spare) = 15
- 16x for Tyne Valley Ten (+2 spare) = 18

Dan, are any of these 44 new buses destined for EYMS?, just EYMS comes under GNE name.

No - they would have to continue along Askew Road or any other suitable route.

Wouldn't affect journey times by that much, though presumably will be longer.

It goes the TVT/RK etc route to cuthbert street then up there then bensham bank (or atleast the driver of 6916 did when that apeared on December 21st). If thats the road you are on about.

11 ADL E200MMC for Connections 4, allowing the Conx4 Mercs to replace Green Arrow Scania (10) and the other as a replacement for 5319.

Sounds right, hopefully if that happens the Green Arrow brand is dropped...

Would be great to see all the new buses be ADL Enviro 200/400MMC's. would be a massive alliance shift if they were to.

When are we expecting the first buses to be delivered?

As much as we'd love to see something better than the StreetDecks on the Castles Express, I think they will stay put for the time being.

If GNE really wanted them off the Castles Express, they would've went with a mixed fleet allocation for the Cobalt Clippers (sending 7x refurbed B9TLs to Crook) and allocated them primarily to boards running late into the evening.

Why Cobalt, could swap them with Deptfords B9's for the 56?

I think they'll take them off the X21 as they are poor reliability wise, they seem to spend more time at Chester-Le-Street than anywhere else which maybe the best place for them on the 13/14 & X25.

It would also help standardise the fleet at Chester also.

Nope 7x Streetdecks would go perfect on 310 PVR and that’s not the case for the 56. Not everything can go to Deptford.

Can’t see them going on either Durham Diamond or Castle Express yet as both are sort of new 16 Regs may be 1 or 2 years then possibly as some reported the Durham Diamond has seen increasing passenger numbers. (Believe so)

Are GNE starting to focus mainly on the enviros now?

Interesting move if true

Can't comment on performance of them, never been on them.. never had a chance to go on the demo's due to work...

RE: Go North East: 2018/19 Financial Year Order Predictions - Rapidsnap - 13 Mar 2019

Well I have heard an unnamed Operator (in addition to those ordered by Metroline and Reading Buses) has ordered some Optare MetroDeckers.

Hopefully Go North East then, need something different after all the Wright stuff they've had in the last few years!!
