(13 Jan 2020, 10:18 pm)S830OFT I expect they'll probably use Double Decker vehicles, seeing as the first 680 journey runs onto the X84/X85...

That could change though. Who knows, the timetable may change and I think the West Northumberland contracts are due for tender this year.

West Northumberland contracts? What services are they? I emailed Northumberland County Council recently about the 74 but have not had a reply.

With the X21 being split like the X9/X10, will it still be £1.20 for an under 19 single or will it go up to £2.20?

Still £1.20 - the increased fare on the X10 doesn’t relate to the fact it is a split route, more so that it is a completely unique service in Go North East’s network, with vehicles covering a massive amount of mileage compared to the norm, which sees an increase in costs for the company.

Aah, right.
The X21 mustn't be that far off in terms of mileage now surely. It certainly already costs more in driver hours

Well, having had a ride on 6337 today, I must say it is by far my favourite of the E400s!
The seats are leagues better than the Smartseats on the new ones and even more comfortable than the V3s.
The tables are the right distance from the seat so you don't have to lean forward uncomfortably to use a laptop
It's easily the most refined of them, no rattles and very few creaks from the windows.
Oh, and you can't hear the windscreen wiper motor from the next county over!

I'd give it a solid second place in the fleet after 6332

Are the x9/x10 and the x21 the only GNE services registered as split routes?

Is 6337 a different height as I can just about stand up upstairs but I can't on the others

Is there a reason why the new ones weren't specced to that height if it fits under the bridge?
It definitely feels a lot more spacious upstairs!

Flexibility as has already been mentioned.

A few years down the line a bridge could have more restrictions, the bus could go on another route or go to another operator.

Are Go North East aware of the future of the 74? When it will be tendered? and if Go North East will still be operating it?

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - January 2020 - Olympian3521 - 15 Jan 2020

With the recent service changes to the X5/15 meaning that due to the extension from Consett to Shotley bridge the pvr has increased from 3 to 4 buses, I wonder if the plan is for 4 yellow x lines street decks or if it will operate with 3 yellows and 1 generic spare, as per the x30.

42A is split at Dinnington.

Bit of an update on 6334, it made 3 journeys early on Wednesday morning but was taken off due to only managing 49mph flat out so it is being sent to Volvo to sort it out so will be off the road until it’s sorted

Always was the plan to have the speed limiter increased before entering service but things were a little tight yesterday morning hence its use.

Briefly had a go on in Eldon to Gateshead and pretty smooth and smart, only thing would be the next stop LED display is along the middle of the front window below the bus stopping sign.

It can’t be retrofitted to the bulkhead, so this is probably the best place (other than perhaps at the top of the stairs like the Cobalt B9s).

It takes up next to no room so I don’t think this is an issue.

It's not often I agree with you, but with this I do.
Unless the NSA display is at the very front of the bus, it's absolutely useless for the passengers in the front seats. Even if means they have to look directly upwards it's better than not being able to see it at all!
It's one of the things I dislike about the Cobalt B9s and the Streetlites to name a few
