RE: Stagecoach North East Latest News - beefcake - 14 Jul 2022 (14 Jul 2022, 6:33 pm)Malarkey I'd somewhat disagree with this statement given there hasn't been investment in new buses in the North East for almost 3 years (2019) with the last new vehicles before that coming in 2016, the last time there was a large investment in new buses was between 2013 to 2015 when Sunderland got the ADL E200's/Gas E300's and Stockton got E300's, South Shields also got E200's then compare that to other areas such as Manchester and ops up in Scotland which get investment year on year whereas Sunderland have had nothing now for 9 years, I would've thought there would've been further investment in the meantime to make Sunderland fully gas operational which was part of the original plan iirc. Last time Hartlepool got new buses was the 396xx series back in 2008 RE: Stagecoach North East Latest News - col87 - 14 Jul 2022 Hartlepool desperately needs new buses. The majority of the 08 plate enviros sound knackered and still blow out a load of smoke from the exhaust. The E200 are not much better either. The darts seem to be the only reliable buses there. RE: Stagecoach North East Latest News - Storx - 14 Jul 2022 (14 Jul 2022, 6:33 pm)Malarkey I'd somewhat disagree with this statement given there hasn't been investment in new buses in the North East for almost 3 years (2019) with the last new vehicles before that coming in 2016, the last time there was a large investment in new buses was between 2013 to 2015 when Sunderland got the ADL E200's/Gas E300's and Stockton got E300's, South Shields also got E200's then compare that to other areas such as Manchester and ops up in Scotland which get investment year on year whereas Sunderland have had nothing now for 9 years, I would've thought there would've been further investment in the meantime to make Sunderland fully gas operational which was part of the original plan iirc. As far as I'm aware they're still trying to get money for Hydrogen buses in the Middlesbrough area. No point really buying loads of new buses if they're going to be displaced after a year or so, similar for Arriva no doubt down there. I know the 36 was one of the first to be done which will release a large number of Enviro 200 MMC's to displace other stuff and no doubt there's going to be frequency cuts in Hartlepool, Sunderland and Teesside which haven't come in yet at some point which will no doubt see off most the ALX 300's. I know the 18 and 30 in Sunderland/South Tyneside are pretty much done for unless there's been a change in heart as they were going until the funding was extended. RE: Stagecoach North East Latest News - Benny - 15 Jul 2022 From Alex Cunningham: No. 38 Stagecoach Service. Constituents living on and around the Glebe have been in touch regarding the Sat/Sun No. 38 service which is currently running as an hourly service - as opposed to the half hourly service prior to the first lockdown. After speaking to the Managing Director of Stagecoach North East I have been informed that, while they are not quite in a position to reverse the weekends just yet, the company is looking at August to resume the half-hourly service, depending on recruitment and staffing. Here's hoping for August for services to resume! Service 19 to Seaburn is back! Grab your bucket and spade and head to the coast this summer! From Saturday 23 July 2022, service 19 is once again back to connect Sunderland's North Estates with the stunning seafront at Seaburn. Service 19 will link Castletown, Hylton Castle, Downhill, Red House and Southwick with the coast running hourly EVERY DAY during the summer holidays until Sunday 4 September (inclusive). As with the trips we operated earlier in the year, to improve reliability, the service will no longer operate via Grange Road terminus in Castletown and at Town End Farm will operate direct via Hylton Lane instead of Blackwood Road and Brunswick Road https://tiscon-maps-stagecoachbus.s3.amazonaws.com/Timetables/North%20East/Sunderland/NE_Sunderland19Timetable2022April.pdf https://www.stagecoachbus.com/service-updates/serviceupdatesarticle?SituationId=ID-13/08/2021-13:09:07:814 RE: Stagecoach North East Latest News - Lollist - 23 Jul 2022 Anything new at Stockton ir coming I think we need skme more buses to cover the e200mmcs RE: Stagecoach North East Latest News - wibblejunior - 29 Jul 2022 Noticed at Eldon Square today that one of the YN07 ALX300s (think it was 22424) had one of its headlights hanging out for some reason...? RE: Stagecoach North East Latest News - tcts24 - 30 Jul 2022 https://m.stagecoachgroup.com/media/news-releases/2022/2022-07-29.aspx Stagecoach confirms future for its inter-city coach retail operations Stagecoach has today (29 July 2022) confirmed the future of the retailing activities of its inter-city coach businesses, megabus.com and Falcon. Both megabus.com and Falcon are Stagecoach’s 100%-owned inter-city coach operations. In addition, Stagecoach has a joint venture, Scottish Citylink, with international transport group, ComfortDelGro. The joint venture is responsible for the Scottish Citylink express coach network and megabus.com branded services to, from and within Scotland. Stagecoach and ComfortDelGro have now reached agreement for Stagecoach to sell the following businesses to Scottish Citylink: the megabus retail platform and customer-service business, which sells and markets inter-city coach services in England and Wales Falcon South-West, which retails tickets for the coach route between Plymouth and Bristol Airport In return, Stagecoach's share of the Citylink joint venture will increase from 35% to 37.5%. Around 30 Stagecoach Group employees are expected to transfer to Scottish Citylink as part of the sale. There is no change to the operation of the inter-city coach services themselves. Stagecoach Chief Executive, Martin Griffiths, said: "Inter-city coach has a positive future as a greener and better value alternative to the car and as the UK rail network continues to see rising fares and operational challenges. "The agreement we have reached with ComfortDelGro will provide certainty for employees in these businesses, and ensure we can continue to benefit from future growth in the inter-city coach market through our increased share in the Scottish Citylink joint venture." On behalf of ComfortDelGro, Sean O’Shea, Chief Executive Officer for Metroline, said: “ComfortDelGro’s 20-year long relationship with Stagecoach in Scotland is set to expand and I look forward to working together to deliver great services for inter-city customers in England and Wales.” The agreement is subject to certain conditions and completion of the transaction is expected in mid-August 2022.
