That's good news however - To be submitted in January 2022, if successful a new fleet of 73 electric vehicles could be operating across the region, part of a phased approach to transform the region’s bus fleet.

So still have to wait.

Coast Road Corridor; serving Newcastle, North Tyneside and South East Northumberland

A167 Corridor, Newcastle, Gateshead, Chester-Le- Street and Durham City Centre.

Consett; serving the communities of Consett, Derwent Valley and Durham;

Durham Park and Ride: includes services from four park and ride sites, part of a package to improve public transport use and improve air quality

Hexham: centred on Hexham, also serving Allendale, East Tynedale, Haltwhistle, Mid Tyne, Ponteland and Prudhoe as well as parts of Cumbria and Tyne & Wear. It would serve towns and villages and connect to the World Heritage site of Hadrian’s Wall, Northumberland National Park and areas of outstanding natural beauty

Imagine electric buses on the AD122 though!

Hope the buses look nicer and not like the Yutong E10 Voltra buses. Not a fan of the design of them

RE: More Zero Emissions Buses For The North East - streetdeckfan - 06 Aug 2021

Hopefully we'll see some hydrogen vehicles as well as BEVs

RE: More Zero Emissions Buses For The North East - Storx - 06 Aug 2021

Reading through the lines if it's all GNE, then it looks like it's going to be:

309/310/311 (Coast Road)
21 (Gateshead, Chester Le Street)
X5/X15 (Durham, Consett, Shotley Bridge (Derwent Valley))
Hexham Local Services (Ponteland, Allendale, Derwent Valley)
Durham P&R

Are GNE getting the park and ride?

Not sure, just with it being listed there and it being a partnership between GNE, Durham and Northumberland CC. Guess they must be, unsure tbh.

IIRC the P&R contract is up for renewal soon so maybe part of GNE's tender is that they'll run it with EVs.

After all, it is just an expression of interest, no guarantee they'll follow through with it

Isn't that what the advert is on the side of the red decker they have on the 21

Yeah maybe, sure someone mentioned awhile back that they were going to make it a requirement for the new contract for electric vehicles. Can't remember who it was now though.

It's just a trial atm, haven't seen anything mentioned in the past about actually investing in them though.

Full list here:

LTAs had the opportunity to apply through the:

fast track process (deadline 21 May 2021)

West Midlands Combined Authority

The 6 shortlisted authorities will now develop business cases for investment, with the government awarding the first tranche of funding from the ZEBRA scheme to LTAs that produce the strongest business cases.

----------------

On 27 July 2021, 17 further LTAs were selected under the standard process to progress to Phase 2 of the competition. They are:

Blackpool Council
City of York Council
Hertfordshire County Council
Liverpool City Region Combined Authority
Norfolk County Council
North Yorkshire County Council
Nottingham City Council
Oxfordshire County Council
Portsmouth City Council & Hampshire County Council
Sheffield City Region Combined Authority
Southampton City Council
Swindon Borough Council
Tees Valley Combined Authority

https://www.route-one.net/news/17-further-bids-progress-to-second-phase-of-zebra-scheme/

The second phase of ZEBRA now requires those 17 LTAs to each prepare a business case for investment from the £120m scheme. Submission is expected by February 2022, with selection of the winners from the standard process taking place during that month. Delivery of successful bids should start in March 2022 and all buses that benefit from ZEBRA funding should be in service no later than two years after it is awarded.

I doubt Arriva would get the funding again after moving the Volvo B5LHs off the 308 and not replacing with newer Euro 6 vehicles (i.e StreetDecks or E400MMCs).

X5/X15 will be an interesting one mind.

It's got nothing to do with Arriva. It's a joint bid between Go North East and Transport North East.

Ah right, I misread so fair enough. Good to see GNE put a bid in though. Must have great confidence in the Coast Road corridor to submit a bid alongside other partners for EVs.
