Transport for Wales (formerly Arriva Trains Wales) - Dan - 19 Aug 2013

175102 has been taken out of service at Chester bound for Manchester.
No replacement organised, the guard just refuses to have the train in use because of a door fault (believe that's what I heard).

EDIT: A door is shutting on its own. If a person was to get trapped in it and injure themselves, it is the guard that would get into trouble.
Fitters are coming now to see the train. If they can't fix it, no replacement will be organised.

I believe only 24 - these are the examples that have been completely refurbished also... See here for details on refurbishment.

As part of the same upgrade, 27 class 175 trains were upgraded - as were 8 single carriage class 153 trains.
This work started in the back end of 2010, and was completed by summer 2012.

Good video, its a shame more trains do not have plug sockets and its a shame that these 158 classes only have plug sockets at a table

RE: Arriva Trains Wales - Wright Dart 40416 - 13 Oct 2013

Interesting the other day when I was coming back from Crewe on the train was the sighting of a Class 158 on 18:30 Crewe-Piccadilly service that originates at Milford Haven, this service I'm sure is booked for the more normal Class 175

RE: Arriva Trains Wales - Wright Dart 40416 - 13 Oct 2013

As for Cardiff-Barry Island, looking on Flickr it looks like a mixture of Class 150s and Pacer Units both 142 and I think theirs are 143s which are not to be confused with the similar looking Class 144s that Northern seem to use on their Leeds-Manchester via Brighouse services

Being brought back in house apparently. Just 18 months or so after Keolis won the contract.

Yes, it will be renationalised with effect from next February.

This thread needs closing and a new one started called Transport for Wales as Arriva Trains Wales ceased to exist on 13 October 2018, when the Wales & Borders franchise was transferred to Transport for Wales, the formal title is Keolis Amey Operations, trading as Transport for Wales Rail Services which is owned by Keolis (60%) and Amey (40%).

You could create a new one if you wanted.
In the past, threads were continued, with the headings changed to reflect any new franchise - rather than create a new one.
I prefer the heading expanding, to show each of the franchise names for example: East Coast/Virgin Trains East Coast/LNER as I feel it allows continuity, rather than a thread for each of the three.
