(01 Mar 2016, 7:25 pm)biglugs@yahoo.com Scholar services should be withdrawn end of story
So the alternatives would be: no buses that run to the schools or normal daytime services getting rammed with school kids on a morning and afternoon. The buses would still be getting trashed whether you have scholar services or not as chances are the kids would still use buses to get to school even without scholar services.

(01 Mar 2016, 7:39 pm)biglugs@yahoo.com The school should provide transport with the own vehciles instead of public service vehciles alike 6099 which have to do other services after the school run

Do you understand the costs of such an operation? Schools have better things to be spending their money on, such as improving school resources.

But what if the schools can't afford to pay for transport?

Well said Tommy.

I'd love to see everybody who lived in Stanley crammed on the 30!

I agree with you here.

And where will they find the funding to do that? Especially in a time when cuts to services like you state above are being made because schools can't afford to run a private or dedicated service.

As Marcus said, not all schools have the funds to do this, also it would probably cost more to run and schools do not have the facilities to carry out essential maintenance and checks to ensure that the buses would be safe to carry the students.

The 88 home is busy enough now with visiting time having finished at the Hospital, I have bad memories of a WSS carrying 2 bus loads in Y7.

(01 Mar 2016, 7:45 pm)DanPicken I hope it wasn't diesel as that's a fire waiting to happen imo.

Thinking about it now its probably not Diesel as I believe it has a bit Red in it. Oil is just Black Liquid.

If a school did operate a scholars; surely the vehicle they use would get destroyed.

Can I ask that we keep the debate in a respectful manner, without resorting to personal insults? Big lugs is just as much entitled as the next person to bring up a topic for discussion. Nobody is obliged to take part.

Don't think some newspapers being thrown around and a slice of cheese going flying can be classed as a write-off.

Not if a teacher or senior member of staff drove the bus

The person driving the bus can't really do anything to stop children messing around, can they? A teacher being present on the bus as a passenger would be much better.

The interior of the bus people dont want to have awful cheese stuck to the ground as its not value for money
