(23 Dec 2019, 10:06 pm)Youngymmv Forgive my ignorance but do all services from slatyford and walkergate actually go into Newcastle city centre where the LEZ is. Can’t see them making sure every bus in depots meet the criteria if they don’t need to be. like South Shields only using certain buses on 10/11 as contract specific engine requirements.

Kind regards

Chris

According to the below article the LEZ may cover parts of Newcastle, Gateshead and North Tyneside and states that buses will all need to be Euro 6 to avoid the £50 charge. Only Newcastle City Council have revealed where their Clean Air Zone will be.

At the moment only ADL E400 10000, ADL E400 MMCs 10631-54 & 11281-99/501-3, ADL E200 MMCs 26063-80 and MAN E300s 24101-15 will avoid the charge. I assume the following Euro 5 vehicles will be upgraded - ADL E400Hs 12061-86, ADL E400s 19641-47 & 19670-83, ADL E300s 27724 & 25 and ADL E200s 36468-77. But I cannot see the point in upgrading the remaining older Euro 3 & Euro 4 vehicles as these will be nearing the end of their lives on mainstream services anyway. I assume these - all remaining MAN ALX300s; ex-Scotland Scania OmniLinks 24001-3, MAN E300s & Kinetics; MAN E200s 39723-32; and the 193** & 194** ADL E400s could be withdrawn, replaced or swapped by the end of the year.

I'm hoping the X24 will get new buses at some point, the current Omnilinks are 13 years old, and are struggling.

Teesside's NSA have all routes except Prior Pursglove stuff and Hartlepool. The Newcastle ones have just the 39/40 in at present, but when time permits other routes will be added.

In relation the LEZ stuff from December thread; 12061-86, 19641-47 and 19670-83 are now Euro 6 ready.

I think they should be looking at ousting all the 08/58/09 man E200s across the division as none of them will be getting the Cummins euro 6 modifications.

It would make sense for Newcastle to send Hartlepool 39723 - 39729 in exchange for 36461 - 36467 which can receive the modifications. Aswell as 39730 - 39732 to Sunderland in exchange for 3x 369 Enviro 200s.

(01 Jan 2020, 2:33 pm)Michael I'm hoping the X24 will get new buses at some point, the current Omnilinks are 13 years old, and are struggling.

Both 24002 and 24003 appear to have been off the road for a few weeks, with an ADL E400 and Gas Bus being used instead.

They are obviously knackered, very unreliable and need to be replaced. I bet they must be a nightmare for the engineers.

However, I have never seen these buses off route (on another service).

Originally there were a bunch of them stored in Scotland for awhile gathering dust as no division wanted them, Sunderland shouldn’t of got them

Knackered isn't the word!, hoping they're replaced this year, would be great to have E400's on it, they need Euro 6 buses soon anyway, but the route needs something much younger than 13 year old buses!

Even more so, when they're the only Omnilinks in the NE.

Stagecoach clearly thought, the X24 wouldn't work, and just got old buses instead of something newer, that's proved to be a wrong move!

I think they only go on the X24 because only small number of drivers are trained to drive them

Have the Ex Scotland E300s been banned from the 100 as they're always on the X47, X88/X87 & X78/X82 and never the 100 with ALX 300s and Euro 6 E300s making the whole PVR of the 100 up.
