Are there any plans for the 553 to change operators? Makes sense at the Regent Centre end to be Arriva, but for Battle Hill/Wallsend GNE would be the best. GCT or Phoenix would probably get it next if Arriva don't keep it. When is the contract up for renewal for the 47 and 553?

553 was (possibly still is) 2 separate contracts.
Monday to Friday every 30 minutes (Regent Centre - Freeman Hospital) contracted by NHS
Monday to Saturday every 60 minutes (Freeman Hospital - Battle Hill) contracted by Nexus
Arriva worked with both contractors to Run the service across Freeman Hospital.
I believe Arriva decided to run the Battle Hill - Freeman Hospital section commercially last year, so not to split service up, as i'm led to believe that they had lost Nexus contract to GCT.

(22 Jan 2022, 9:34 am)Storx I'd hope not it's an Arriva service - https://api.arrivabus.co.uk/routes/servi...n-2022.pdfI still can't see any mention on the Go North East website of this going back to normal, I would have expected GNE to tell its passengers rather than Nexus
Ironically though the GNE 56 is going back to normal service on the same day https://www.nexus.org.uk/bus/timetables?...l&title=56

(22 Jan 2022, 10:16 am)Dan Go North East hasn't told its passengers because they aren't reverting back to normal timetables from this date.Well, I wonder if it will be before March.

Route 308 will be diverted southbound between Blyth and South Beach from the 14th, presumably via the 309 route.
Northbound journeys are unaffected with passengers for Newcastle able to travel to Blyth and back out on a diverted service.

I wonder what the above changes will present? Would the 43/44/45 not be better going to Single Decks and going to a 6/6/7 frequency running every 20 mins each (like the 309/310/311 do)? Would give a more even service between the 43/45 from Lockey Park .

(12 Feb 2022, 7:12 pm)Storx I'm not sure they need more services along there. 20 mins seems a bit overkill for both Dinnington bits and I don't believe it would reduce the PVR, potentially increase it though because of the interworking patterns. It would increase PVR but would give more even headway between the 43 & 45 in Wideopen, 13/7 as opposed to an oddball 30 minute service running amongst a 15 minute frequency provided by the 43.
44/45 PVR 5 with 30 min run time each all with a 7 minute layover.

So frequency would be
Dinnington 44/45 - Every 7-13 mins
Wideopen Travellers Rest 43/45 - Every 7-13 mins
North Gosforth & Gosforth Park 43/44/45 - Every 6-7 mins
Although I suppose my argument is invalid to some extent given that GNE went the opposite way on the Rowlands Gill corridor by making the 47/47A an oddball amongst the X45/X46.
