PB0002717/285 - ARRIVA DURHAM COUNTY LTD, 1 ADMIRAL WAY, DOXFORD INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS PARK, SUNDERLAND, SR3 3XP

PB0002717/293 - ARRIVA DURHAM COUNTY LTD, 1 ADMIRAL WAY, DOXFORD INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS PARK, SUNDERLAND, SR3 3XP

Variation Accepted: Operating between Durham and Brasside given service number 42 effective from 31-Aug-2014. To amend Timetable

I imagine the 42/X1/X2 changes are just that they will no longer drop off service for school contracts.

Possibly, and I think the X1 was going to become hourly on Sundays? Unless that's already happened.

Jack's do the 2A (Easington/Loftus) and 2B (Brotton, Skelton, Saltburn and Marske) at the moment, I assume this is an amalgamation of those 2 routes into one.
I have a feeling they will give it to us to run at Stockton but will find out next week (if not before). It would fit nicely as a wrap-around for the 6 which starts at 0930 and finishes at 1600... No need for an extra bus then

There were plans but things change, which you'll see in September I guess as thats when the next changes to the X1 (and other County Durham routes) will be. Redcar would need an additional bus to work the RC4 unless they were to drop some journeys (not popular given we're increasing stuff at present!) so it would make sense to wrap it around the 6. It would also provide some revenue to back the service up too I guess, given the recent addition of external funding streams what with the NHS funding in Newcastle as another example.

Regarding the Newcastle NHS service, does anyone know why the Darlington/Durham NHS hospital services H1 & H2 were not extended or renewed? Was it because they were losing money or not enough usage?

I don't know the answer to that one sadly, I would assume that the NHS trust just didn't want to pay for it any longer hence the contract didn't get renewed. I am guessing the usage figures etc would be taken into account when making their decision so that's probably a partial answer.

The H1/2 was very rarely used since all of the work it used to take can now be done by cpmputers, there was still a few parcels to go but due to very low useage it got wothdrawb, arriva saw how much money it was loosing so it pulled the plug before it was too late
