(05 Oct 2021, 1:23 pm)Train8261 Always thought of it going to Four Lane Ends full time but then again. It would put Arriva 52 out between Newcastle and Four Lane Ends

Would the PVR need to be increased if it did go to Four Lanes End full time

The 38 used to go to Forest Hall via Four Lane Ends.

Monday 11th October

Due to the ongoing national driver shortage, we are making some temporary timetable changes to Services 39 and 40.

The Monday to Saturday daytime timetable will be revised, with buses combining to run up to every 7 or 8 minutes on the section between Lemington Road Ends and Welbeck Road, with buses then running to and from Dumpling Hall, Chapel House, Walker and Wallsend every 15 minutes.

Evening and Sunday buses will continue to run unchanged.

We’re sorry to have to make these changes, but due to the national driver shortage, there are no other options

Temporary closure of Blackett Street for Christmas Lights switch on, affecting Services 12, 32, 32A, 36, 39, 40, 62, 63, X63, 71, 72, 87 08 Oct 2021 to 17 Nov 2021

On Wednesday 10 November 2021, the Newcastle Christmas Lights will be switched on.

To facilitate this event, Blackett Street will be subject to a temporary road closure, between approx. 1700 and 2000.

During the period of the closure, eastbound buses will diverted via Newgate Street, Grainger Street, Market Street and Pilgrim Street (and so will be unable to serve Blackett Street). Westbound buses will be diverted via Market Street, Grainger Street and Newgate Street (and so will not serve John Dobson Street or Blackett Street.

Rather than using bus stops on Blackett Street, John Dobson Street or Market Street, customers for affected services are recommended to use the following alternative city centre bus stops during the affected periods:

* Services 12, 39, 40, 62, 63 towards Byker, please use Newgate Street (former Debenhams) or New Bridge Street West.

* Services 12, 39, 40, 62, 63 towards Barrack Road, please use Market Street East or Newgate Street.

* Services 32, 32A towards Walker, please use Percy Street or Market Street East.

* Services 32, 32A, 36 towards RVI and Fenham, please use Newgate Street or St.Thomas Street.

* Services 71, 72, 87 towards Barrack Road, please use Newgate Street

* Service X63 towards Killingworth, please use New Bridge Street West.

As well as the additional mileage required to operate across the city centre, it is likely that the city centre area will be much more busy than normal. Whilst we will be endeavouring to mitigate any issues, customers are asked to leave more time for their journeys.

Stagecoach apologise for any delays or inconvenience this event may cause

From Tuesday 12 October until Saturday 13 November 2021, there will be some bus stop suspensions on Roker Terrace.

These bus stop suspensions are necessary to facilitate the safe running of the Festival of Light event. So as to enable the installation of a crossing point, the bus stops on Roker Terrace/ Whitburn Road at the junction of Side Cliff Road will need to be suspended throughout the above dates.

Customer are advised to use the nearest alternative bus stops, situated on Roker Terrace, close to the “Poetic Licence” public house.

To support the event, a number of road closures will be in place through the Roker area. However, buses will be permitted normal access along Whitburn Road, Roker Terrace and along Park Avenue, Roker Park Road, Park Parade and St.George’s Terrace.

The Festival of Light event will be a ticketed event this year. (Vist there website for pricing and booking)

Has Stagecoach ever ran any services sure it's always been subsidised by Nexus - I could be wrong though.

The E1/E2 are secured by Nexus on Boxing Day. These are two of the services out to tender.

Basically, all that changing is the reintroduction of the temporary timetables used at various points since last June which were re-introduced just before Christmas due to the driver shortages - in effect, some services have been reduced in frequency (10, 12, 39, 52, 58, 59 and 61) and running to Sunday running times (52/61 interworking for example, as well as a complexed interworking in Middlesbrough with 10/12/14/39 all interworking in some way shape or form) while the 14 and 36/37/38 all remain on normal weekday frequency but on Sunday running times (36, for example, normally gets 74 minutes on a weekday to run between Middlesbrough and Hartlepool - on Sunday that is reduced to 62 minutes). The 13, 34 and 35 meanwhile are effectively unchanged running on their normal weekday timetables.
The other changes are the reintroduction of a timing point on services 13/13A, 35, 36/37/38, 52, 58 (daytime) and 59 (daytime) at the north end of Stockton High Street following the relocation of the Stagecoach Travelshop (and driver's break room) ahead of the closure and demolition of the Castlegate Centre later in 2022 resulting in the change to driver relief' from the Castlegate end of the High Street to the Wellington Square/Royal Oak end (previously just a single relief took place at the Royal Oak on an evening on the 58/59/61 cycle but now all changeovers take place there); plus the introduction of later journeys on the 10 on the Sunday timetable - at present the last 10 on Saturdays and Sundays leaves Middlesbrough at 1740 and Coulby Newham at 1809 (if normal service resumes on Monday to Saturday, the last outbound departs at 2012 and inbound at 1937), from the 4th the last journey from Middlesbrough departs at 1945 and Coulby Newham at 2014.

Just checking VOSA and they've changed the 23 to the 22 (Doxford to Dene Estate) and the 4 from Downhill to Thorney Close (it was changed back to the 23 but has now changed again) but it was from March

Just seems odd that they've changed the routes again on the service list on VOSA.... could these changes finally go ahead (they were planned pre-covid)

Looking at the variation history on VOSA for Sunderland service 22, the new left entries refer to the 23. SNE must be going ahead with the change. I wonder what the reasoning is? Curious as have used the 23 quite frequently on the Thornholme Rd to Town stretch.

If Stagecoach are cutting services in Newcastle and North Tyneside, what services are likely to be affected? 32/32A, 35, 68 and 87 strike me as the most likely services to be affected. Could the 22 be affected?
