(07 Jan 2015, 7:34 pm)aureolin Try paying £4.70 for a single from Chester le Street to Sunderland!

Yes. A 42 minute journey during the middle of the day.

I can travel on the longest route GNE have (except the TTX) end to end - 90 pence.

Absolutely fantastic value, imo.

It's silly Go North East charge 90p to go from Fifth Avenue (Ashington) to Ashington (Bus Station). When it costs 90p to go from Ashington to North Shields Ferry and for S1 single ticket...

Arriva charge 60p (£1.10 return) for my journey... but couldn't pay that because the f**king bus drove straight past.

Aye, I do think the 90p fare is fantastic value, but remain fundamentally opposed to the peak/off-peak system in Durham. I do however feel that a lot of responsibility for that falls on to DCC, as they don't support it in the way Nexus do in Tyne and Wear.

My favourite ticket is probably the Day Rover though. £6.90 for unlimited travel across the buses, Metro, Rail and Ferry, for the whole day. I tend to use them when I'm out and about.

Has it been down all day? I can't access from in the house, and couldn't from work earlier.

EDIT: They've been hit with a DDoS apparently. Wonder who they've upset...

(07 Jan 2015, 7:29 pm)MurdnunoC I don't understand why anyone would want to pay for a trip around the perimeter of the Metrocentre.

Especially on that loud, violent juddering, manky Merit.

Got it from the bus station to Asda once, I hated it so much I decided to walk back to the bus station.

That's the whole point of the Get Around 90p system, though.

90 pence for every journey, with Go North East. 60 pence if it's with Arriva. Paying an extra 30 pence because Arriva's service didn't stop...you've hardly drained your life savings!!

Think so, I tried on my way to school (on the bus), at lunchtime and on the way home, and got nowhere.

On the same level, would you argue that it's silly Arriva North East charge "Teen Card" holders £1.00 to go from Haymarket Bus Station to St. Mary's Place, yet they also charge £1.00 to go from Haymarket Bus Station to Berwick-upon-Tweed?

In Tyne & Wear, bus operators would charge 60p(?) for Under 16s to travel on their buses. £1.10 for a day ticket.

I think Arriva say that if you use your Teen Card for a journey that would cost less than £1 if you got a half fare, they give it to you for that. Last summer, for example, I was visiting some friends in Bedlington and to get from one end to the other only cost 80p for a half single so I got it for that when I presented my card.

I think if you use it well it can save a ton of money. Every Sunday for example I have to get an X18 down from Berwick, costs me £1, but think about how much more expensive it would be to get a lift down.

I think reduced fares for teenagers is a brilliant idea, as it encourages them to use the bus rather than get parents/guardians to give lifts (if they are available)
