Aye, I've already explained it to my mam and also told her about the Arriva Teen Card as well.

Bit silly that GNE are requiring teenagers to have a Get Around Key card for all journeys, I thought there slogan was Simply Go? Simply - getting on a bus and paying 90p without all this new stuff and Go - by Go North East??? Tongue

(24 Jan 2015, 5:53 pm)Tommy_1581 I've always got on GNE buses for 90p without using the Key, it's only today that the driver charged me £2.70.

(24 Jan 2015, 5:54 pm)MarcTheA4 How old are you again? If you're under the age for a half, you are kind of a fare evader. Tongue

Nah I'm just kidding, I don't know the ins and outs of it all.

I would recommend getting a Key though.

In all seriousness, you are not entitled to a 90p fare without a Get Around Key Card if you're over 11 years of age. Drivers are also permitted to refuse travel for 90p without a Key Card if you only look like you're older than 11.

If you haven't got a Get Around Key Card, order one for free as soon as you can. Drivers are well within their rights to make you pay adult fare, otherwise.

It's always been the case, since the cards were introduced. It shows how old you are, as your date of birth is given on the card, which provides evidence to the bus driver that you're entitled to the cheaper fare.

It is a simple system, and it's done all around the UK. In places where this isn't the case, child fares are often a lot higher, as many customers who no longer qualify for a child fare still make use of it.

Stagecoach seem to charge an 85p child fare regardless of how old the 'child' is - I know 18 and 19 year olds who still buy this ticket...

Been like this for a long time now.  Think Peter Huntley brought it in.

All my shots of the X66 Bendies turned out blurry (typical they are about too be withdrawn!) and the photos that did make it on to Flickr look a bit shit too, feel like I've wasted my afternoon. Hopefully my photos from the next few days will turn out better.

Don't know, guessing it's so people don't go using them when they're meant to be at school etc. As it's anytime weekends and school holidays.
edit: (Or to stop kids clogging up peak time runs with cheaper fares, as it's after 9AM in holidays, just had to check that)

It's little wonder why Nexus have issues with enthusiasts, when people go on like this. Most of us will stick to safe areas and still be told, due to the actions of the minority.

Definitely not me, I was wearing a parka and I have a **** little Sony camera that's dropping to bits.

Also I tend not to stand in front of buses normally because it can be dangerous also it will probably make for a crap photo. I have seen other bus photographer's do this, I saw one do it in Redcar on the first day of Sapphire on the X3/X4. I usually stay safe I must be the only person who actually uses the zebra crossings in MetroCentre Bus Station.

Also I jumped off the X2 then walked down to the corner where the exit is for a shot of the Vyking on the 21 then went into the travel office for new timetables then went straight for the X66 to the MetroCentre.

Yup, I'm heading home now to get all of my coursework and suchlike done.

My annoyance today is the amount of running I've done! I ran to the Stadium, I ran to Chester Rd from the University Metro, I ran from the Wavendon to the stop at the bottom of the bank, I ran to Ryhope Road from Park Lane, and then I had to run from Greggs in Park Lane to the Metro stop.

I haven't been very organised with my timings today - everything has been one big rush...

It sounds like all of my outings, should have seen how fast I ran for a shot of a Yellow Bus Olympian at the MetroCentre yesterday.

I don't really run. I tend to get half way through my initial plan then if I see something good I go for it.
