Will start on service 38 today and will run on the same journey monday to friday, saturday and sunday for the next few weeks then change service, should be at Walkergate for between 6 to 12 months. No plans AFIK to send it to slatyford as they dont have any Euro 5 enviros to run it against.

Temporary closure of the Fawcett Street/ Holmeside junction, affecting all services.
On Sunday 24 March 2013, the busy road junction at Fawcett Street/ Borough Road/ Holmeside will have to be temporarily closed to allow for remedial carriageway works and the removal of the traffic islands.

Last Updated : 6 March 2013 16:33

These works are part of the "Better Bus Areas" scheme, which will ultimately enable Borough Road to become a 2-way road for buses.

In addition to the Fawcett Street junction closure, Sunderland City Council will also be closing John Street at the same time so as to allow for remedial works to be undertaken on a failed speed table, close to St.Thomas’ Street. These works are being "piggy-backed" onto the Fawcett Street junction closure so as to remove a further closure in the coming months.

As a consequence of these dual road works, on Sunday 24 March 2013 only, buses will be unable to serve ANY of their normal bus stops along Fawcett Street, John Street, Holmeside, Vine Place, Green Terrace or Athenaeum Street. All buses will instead observe the bus stops outside and opposite the Londonderry Hotel, and buses will be diverted around the top of the city centre area (via High Street West and St.Marys Way).

It had it when it was new, well so early pictures suggest, although it is slightly different now. On its way up it melted its bumper by the time it got up here....

A Stagecoach in Sunderland driver who is in a relationship with my sister has just told her that there are some vehicles that have just arrived at Sunderland's depot having their 'stickers taken off'.
I have no idea which vehicles these are, as it seems strange that those ex-Hull Tridents would receive maintenance work at Sunderland. Seems even stranger than they've arrived already, actually.

Another thought which passed through my head was that it was the new vehicles for Stagecoach in Sunderland - but seems early for those to have arrived too. And why would they need stickers to be taken off? Surely it'd be the other way...

Anyone have any definite info?

Could be some of the Tridents, considering most of them are still branding 'Frequento'. Although, why they've bypasted Stockon and gone to Sunderland when Stockton could easily have debranded them in-house (did it last year with 22064) is somewhat a mystery unless the example there is going straight in for a repaint.

My thinking would be one (or more) of Newcastle's 1 branded E400's as the branding is due to be removed from these I understand.

That was my first inklin' as its very strange for the Hull Tridents to go to Sunderland. Plus theres been no reports from Hull that they're E400's have appeared. But yes the 1's are already in the process of branding removal, with some already having been debranded for a month or two now and having received 'partial' repaints (in-house I presume), although a select few have been treated to a fresh full coat, which it does sound the case for whatever has appeared at Sunderland(!)

I think all of Newcastle's buses have lost these now, including the "Mega Value". Waste of money and effort! Other Stagecoach regions have posted their fare revisions, haven't heard anything from the NE although its normally this time of year.
