Disruption to all services during Sunday 7 July 2013
During Sunday 7 July 2013, Sunderland City Council will need to temporally close the southern end of John Street and the western end of Borough Road to facilitate essential roadworks associated with the Borough Road highways improvements scheme.
Last Updated : 25 June 2013 14:28
On this occasion, Borough Road will be closed between Foyle Street and John Street, including its junctions at John Street and Frederick Street/ Toward Road. This is to allow for highways surfacing and road marking works.
During the periods of this road closure, Stagecoach buses will be diverted as follows:
Southbound Services 3, 4, 13, 16 and 23 will be diverted from Wearmouth Bridge to operate via St.Mary’s Way and High Street West. These services will temporarily observe the westbound bus stops outside Marks and Spencer’s and at Londonderry Hotel, and will be unable to observe their normal bus stops on John Street, Holmeside or Green Terrace.
Northbound Services 3, 4, 13, 16 and 23 will be unaffected by this closure on Sunday 7 July.
Westbound Service 5A will be diverted from West Lawrence Street via Sans Street, West Wear Street, St.Mary’s Way and High Street West. This service will temporarily observe the westbound bus stops outside Marks and Spencer’s and at Londonderry Hotel, and will be unable to observe its normal bus stops on Borough Road, Holmeside or Green Terrace.
Eastbound Service 5A will be unaffected by this closure on Sunday 7 July.
Westbound Services 10 and 11 will be diverted from Tatham Street via Borough Road (east side), Sans Street, West Wear Street, St.Mary’s Way and High Street West. These services will temporarily observe the westbound bus stops outside Marks and Spencer’s and at Londonderry Hotel, and will be unable to observe their normal bus stops on Borough Road, Holmeside or Green Terrace.
Eastbound Services 10 and 11 will be unaffected by this closure on Sunday 7 July.
Service 20 will be unaffected by this closure on Sunday 7 July.
Services E1, E2, E6 will be unaffected by this closure on Sunday 7 July.
Clearly, whilst we will be endeavouring to operate all services in accordance with their published timetables, as well as continuing to liaise with our colleagues at Sunderland City Council to mitigate any problems, due to the increased mileage required to operate via the diversionary route, there is the potential that some trips may be subject to localised delays.
Stagecoach would like to apologise for any inconvenience these highways works by Sunderland City Council may cause, and we remain grateful for customers’ patience and understanding.
(26 Jun 2013, 5:02 pm)dans_bus_photos 22195 and 33126 are both over the pits at Sunderland
22077 was also there minus half of its windscreen, so im assuming this was the bus involved in the accident in Sunderland this afternoon.

(27 Jun 2013, 3:45 pm)dans_bus_photos Yes definatly- i was surprised too as i thought it would only be leaving Slatyford to go for scrap.

Possibly, even though i cant see them needing it back on the road since 33483/5 replaced them. Most of them will be coming off in the autumn id have though once Sunderland gets their new enviro 200s. 33102 was also round the back of slatyford next to 33126/827 a couple of weeks ago being canibalised

Services 18, 19 unable to serve Thorney Close during Monday 8 July 2013
During Monday 8 July 2013, the entire length of Tay Road between Grindon Estate and Thorney Close will be subject a temporary road closure, so as to allow for resurfacing works by Sunderland City Council.
Last Updated : 28 June 2013 13:3
These works will be in place during Monday 8 July 2013, between approx 0800 - 1800. In order to create a safe working area, there will be no through traffic access along Tay Road.
During periods of this temporary road closure, Services 18 and 19 will be unable to serve Thorney Close Estate. These buses will divert from Springwell to operate via Grindon Lane and Gleneagles Road, observing all stops along the line of the diversionary route.
As a result of this necessary diversion, Services 18 and 19 will be unable to serve the bus stops along Telford Road, Thorndale Road, Tilbury Road or Tay Road.
Clearly, whilst we will be endeavouring to operate Services 18 and 19 in accordance with their published timetables, as well as continuing to liaise with our colleagues at Sunderland City Council to mitigate any problems, there is nonetheless the potential that some trips may be subject to localised delay.
