(30 Sep 2014, 12:30 pm)AIG20 ‘Mindless morons’ smash two bus windows = Shields Gazette

A vehicle operating service 12 was involved, which would most likely be a Pointer Dart. However, Brand New ADL E200 37143 was also on that service on Saturday. At least no-one was injured.
It was 37143

27731 currently heading to Sunderland minus branding on windows, with an engineer at the wheel. Next in line to be repainted, I would assume!

(28 Sep 2014, 3:56 pm)AIG20 Steven Hodgson of the "Stagecoach Enthusiast's Facebook Page" has posted a leaflet of what the new 36/37/38 (not 39!) branding will look like. Unfortunately, it will cover the windows again... But other than that it looks really good! Big Grin

Branding over the windows is terrible. Bad enough them getting single deckers rather than double, but when you're squashed in like sardines and can't even see out...

The '39' is NOT an error - the services are being changed before the new buses arrive.

I hope this is a hint! Wink

In all seriousness, it is such a shame, if so.
Similar to the services at Stockton receiving investment: even if the high loadings are only on one section of the route, I'm sure double deckers could quite easily be justified on a large number of journeys on this section. I know a number of these passengers might be reluctant to climb some stairs too, it would be good to see double deckers return on the Economic services.

Cleveland transit used to have a lot of double deckers on their routes in 1980s but a lot has change since then.  But the new E300s are ok .

Well after a long conversation with Phil Medlicot on Sunday it doesn't look like South Shields will be getting DD for the E1/E2/E6. He did say the next lot of investment will more than likely be teesside again as the fleet is not DDA.
