I had a weird dream last night which made me wake up in a cold sweat.

I dreamt that I started to pull out my own teeth willingly with surprising ease. It seemed quite real, so real in fact that when I woke I immediately checked my teeth (and checked for blood) and got myself a drink of water.

Whether this was a dream or a nightmare is debatable, but do any other members of the forum have any vivid dreams which they wish to share or discuss?

I'll share another dream to start. This was quite some time ago but I still remember it well. I used to quite often misplace/lose keys and watches. In one dream I opened a door, went into a room and discovered a big pile of keys and watches - presumably representing the items I'd previously lost.

If dreams do have meanings then I'd probably guess that dream had some underlying sub-conscious message attached.

No idea why but on more than one occasion I have dreamt that I was on viewing this forum and have also dreamt Flickr notifications.

Should probably be spending less time on these sites.

They say losing teeth in a dream is a common symbol representing anxiety. It tends to come up during times of transition and often points to concerns experienced by the dreamer in waking life.

Yup. I did. Maybe my dream does represent underlying anxiety in transitioning from one place to another.

From http://www.dreamdictionary.org/common/teeth-dreams/

I don't know which one applies specifically to me...

Pulling Teeth:
This type of dream can be interpreted differently depending the context of the events that surround it.  The key word here in the dream is “pulled”, so that might be an indication that something needs to come out.  Teeth are in the mouth so its possible that it could be related to speaking. It could also be related to pulling yourself too hard in some situation or event in your life.   If somebody else is pulling at your teeth it could suggest they want to get something out of you.  Some have experience teeth dreams if they fear the dentist and have a tooth ache.

Losing Your Teeth:
Losing your teeth could be an indication that your stress and anxiety levels could be to high in your life right now and needs to be fixed.  These types of dreams can be somewhat tricky to translate because you might have to face aspect of yourself you could be ignoring.
*Attachment Issues (trying to hold on to something)
*Fear of letting go to something that was part of your life for a long time.
*Afraid of failing
*You dread the feeling of embarrassment
*You may feel a lack of control in your relationship
* Is it possible you set your goals to high and they are crashing down
*What are you afraid to loose
*Are you trying to cover up something
*Afraid of losing your money or the feeling of being abandoned.

But then again different websites have different interpretations of dreams. Of course each 'specialist' will claim to have in-depth knowledge...

From: http://www.dreammoods.com/dreamdictionary/t.htm

Teeth

To dream that you have rotting or decaying teeth implies that you may have said something that you shouldn't have. You may have uttered some false or foul words and those words are coming back to haunt you.

To dream that your teeth is sparkling or gleaming signifies happiness and fulfilled wishes.

To dream that you are brushing your teeth refers to your level of confidence, your struggles and your aggressiveness. You need to look out for yourself and your own interest. Perhaps, you feel that your position is shaky.

To dream that your teeth has fallen out and you try to refit them back into the mouth signifies a lack of self-confidence and embarrassment. You are afraid that others will know of your short-comings. If you acted calmly in your dream, then it may point to how can make the best out of any situation. You are able to rise above unfavorable circumstances.

Dreaming that there are teeth growing all over inside your mouth from the roof of your mouth to under your tongue means that you are on the defensive about something and may be a little overly aggressive about it.

If you dream that your teeth is broken or that it has been knocked out, then it means that you have misspoken about some matter. It is also refers to the consequences of your words and/or what you say about others.

Make of that what you will.

I also have an upcoming dentist appointment soon and was thinking about it either yesterday or the day before. I don't particularly like going to the dentist so that may have something to do with my dream.

I hate the whole falling down the stairs nightmare thing! I believe the reason behind it is your heart rate (when your asleep) has dropped dramatically and if you didn't have this reaction - your heart would stop.

The other one I hate, when your just about to fall asleep and you feel you've suddenly fell off the bed - I believe when this happens, you either fall asleep or wake up.

I often have vivid dreams. Neve nightmares.

I won't bore you with all of them, but after seeing my Fantasy Football come to a slow, spluttering halt over the last few weeks, I was over the moon to find out that the Premier League had made a mistake and there was another weekend of fixtures to come.
The obvious benefit, of being able to re-jig my team for one last push.

Ah and also, I often dream of a reliable, affordable public transport system Wink

Don't know why but a recurring dream (nightmare) I've had over the years is jumping off the top of the stairs in Boyes, Newton Aycliffe and landing on the ground.

This wakes me up everytime and also means that I can never go upstairs in there, not I'd want to as I don't want to look at fabrics and curtains.

When i was younger, to stop my self having nightmares I used to have a little sentence that i used to say. I can't remember what it was but all i can remember is me lying in bed, closing my eyes and quickly saying that sentence every night regardless of how much sense it made (which since it was me probably meant none!). It worked a majority of the time and sparked positive dreams.

Old Crimewatch crack - couldn't resist sorry.

I haven't watched it for years. Do they still sign off with that?

Don't think so - the phrase certainly didn't ring a bell to me! Tongue

Have no idea why I watch Crimewatch... The mugshots of "dangerous people" they're on the lookout for are always scary too. Hate the re-constructions.

I used to be an avid viewer many years ago. When I was at school it used to be a major topic of conversation during breaktimes the day after. Don't know why I stopped watching. I guess I must have been out doing more exciting stuff. IIRC, it used to air on Thursdays.

Digging up an old thread, based on one if my strange, vivid dreams.

For some reason, in my dream it was the 24th February. Apparently (I haven't checked it out), it was the 4th anniversary of Jereny Beadle's death - so ITV had essentially a day of scheduling dedicated to the comedic genius that was Jeremy Beadle.

I have no idea if this was even a Jeremy Beadle stunt, but one of the most hilarious highlights in my dream, was of him crouched by the side of the road giving the thumbs up to camera with his little hand, as (authentic 1980's) vehicles went over a pressure pad in the road - emitting a funny noise.

As I type this message, the Beadle's About theme tune is rattling around my head.

I have said previously that my dreams are vivid.
I should perhaps mentioned they were beyond strange.

Ah and kids, if you haven't heard of Jeremy Beadle, look him up on youtube.
