V shiny.

GNE wouldn't like it. There's hardly anywhere to put any branding.

What's the range of these things, btw? They'd probably need a pretty extensive network of charging points or swappable batteries for most of the routes they have up here, wouldn't they?

Is there anything wrong with linesiding? I don't think there is. People have different hobbies and interests.

They're electric-hybrids.

Lothian are to introduce 20 new electric-hybrids by 2017 and they will carry a similar livery to the Volvo 7900 Hybrids. I'm not sure how publicly known it is which route is being upgraded, so I'll keep schtum for now.

When at a terminus, they will be 'plugged in' to charge the bus for the journey to the next terminus. There has been a few instances over the last week whereby the demonstration vehicle which Malarkey pictured broke down owing to the failure of one of the batteries, meaning it had to be towed back to the depot.

It is merely a prototype model, so the Volvo representative would not disclose information to me regarding the vehicle and infrastructure price.

Been there before with letting the cat out of the bag with Lothian investment, so was avoiding doing so again!

The batteries would of failed due their being no Infrastructure in place in Edinburgh to therefore charge these Vehicles up, these Volvos along with the 20 7900s for Service 30 due in 2017, require a Pantograph which attaches to the Conductors in the Roof of the Vehicle at the Services Terminus to therefore charge the Batteries up, iirc there should be a 4 Page Article in the "New Technology in Buses" Thread, which I uploaded regarding the Volvo Electricity which provides more information on this Vehicle.

This year, Lothian Buses Open Doors Day will be held on Saturday 24th September 2016.

Unfortunately, for those of us travelling from the North East, it would appear that services along the East Coast Mainline towards Edinburgh will be diverting via Carlisle between Newcastle and Edinburgh Waverly that day. Sadly for this reason I think I'm going to give it a miss this year as I don't want to spend anywhere between 3 hours, 27 minutes and 4 hours, 17 minutes each way! on the train from Darlington.

No idea if I will be going here but I doubt it if the trains are diverted. Only way I will be going if my dad can take me up in the car.

I was looking forward to going, as soon as I saw the event appear on Facebook I was checking train times/fares and I made the unfortunate discovery. I'm not prepared to put myself through journeys with a minimum travel time of three hours and a half hours (each way) when it normally takes between two - two and a half hours from Darlington.

If anyone is prepared to go, the train fares are currently pretty cheap.

Going to look into doing Edinburgh another day now.

Booked drags a couple of times per day.

I'm not sure whether I will be attending or not. During the diversions I like to jolly about on the Tyne Valley on them non stop several times per day (even having a run to/from Edinburgh) so whether I do it or not will depend on whether I'm sick of bashing the diversions!
