Quite a few confused looking passengers at harton nook in South Shields. Diversions in place on Sunderland road with services 3,4,30,x34 & gne services 20/20a all entering area from King George road roundabout before a quick circle on prince Edward road back out. Buses are diverting around sunderland road via King George road atm.
Kind regards
Chris
Been looking at the bygone era and was surprised to see thatTyne and Wear PTE ran services in South Shields on Christmas Day back in the 1970s with a timetable very similar to the current Sunday service.
Its hard enough trying to get something introduced for New Years Day now imagine if Stagecoach give us Christmas Day services now

(11 Nov 2015, 10:43 pm)Michael Not sure we will ever see a Christmas day service again up here, everywhere is closed so its pointless.

(12 Nov 2015, 11:21 am)ifm001 Everything was also closed back then. So what is or was the difference. Apart from budgets.

(12 Nov 2015, 11:31 am)Andreos1 It was interesting to read this, as I had just been talking about it over the weekend.
Guessing social reasons.
There were fewer cars on the road and people will have still travelled to see friends and family.
For a long period of time, people will have used public transport to get to football games too.

(12 Nov 2015, 9:17 pm)Wybus A query, does the MetroCentre 100 bus use single decks because it passes under a low bridge, or just because it's Stagecoach's choice to do so? (I'm not sure of the exact route it takes?)

(12 Nov 2015, 9:19 pm)S813 FVK It doesn't go underneath any low bridges - from Newcastle to Metrocentre, it pretty much follows the same route as the TEN but in the other direction, most drivers tend to take it through Dunston by exiting the bus station right at the roundabout.

(12 Nov 2015, 9:34 pm)ifm001 Which in that direction does have a low bridge next to the fed breweries site
(12 Nov 2015, 9:50 pm)S813 FVK But this could be avoided by all drivers going to Newcastle the same way as they go to Metrocentre. Over the bridge and along Handy Drive - some drivers do this already.
(12 Nov 2015, 9:52 pm)DanPicken And some head off towards Blaydon to get onto the A1.
