I am guessing they must be expecting 555 to fail miserably, to go to the expense of hiring a bus in.
That or the expected repair bill isn't cost effective.

(21 Jan 2016, 5:10 pm)citaro5284 It does not have to be the same as 555. MOT's can be done in advance, say 1 month, now the age of this vehicle, if in some years it had been done in advance, it could have a different schedule to say 556.
Unlike a car, a bus gets a MOT from year 1 not year 3.

It wouldn't make sense to have the entire fleet to be off the road for testing at the same time.
It makes sense they are staggered, to take into account demands on the fleet and any repairs that would need carrying out.
