Think we are all aware of what the 57 reg E400's are like, although if you think they are bad you should have seen what the buses were like on the 7 before it became Sapphire, now they were unreliable!

Looks like another E400 has reentered service as 1580 is on the 35
Credit had to be extended to the guys from Darlington and Stockton for keeping things going on the X66/67 during y'days horrific smash on the A66. A shame that it's undone by one of the bad apples that Arriva have in their workforce. The driver on 1443, the 1450 X67 ex Darlington being a prime example. The job he is paid to do is drive his vehicle and deliver a professional customer service to the passenger, not dish out abuse because he's having a bad day ! Scott (Tyresmoke) will know who he is.

(04 Mar 2016, 11:35 am)scania driver He does wear glasses but not dark ones. I've encountered him before, one of the breed that never smiles, never acknowledges the customers and finds everything about the job a chore. I was going to send Nick Knox an e-mail but can't find is addy.

Has anyone heard about how the 685 'Max'ing has been going on?
I heard a rumour 4663 was being worked on with MAX upgrades after its repairs to it's thermal incident a few months ago but that's the last I've heard!
As I travel to/from work I usually pass a Pulsar on 685 - ANE must have another Omnicity VOR (or on local routes etc) to require this?

The sooner the joint operation between two different companies is stopped (or at least fully evened out so there's no bias towards Arriva [ie PVR of 4 vs 2]), the better IMO. (But that's another story )
I think the Pulsars are much better vehicles for the job. For me they have much better ride quality and, from an enthusiast's point of view, a certain few do a lot of screaming...!
That said I haven't really used Arriva's 685 for a good while, as I usually drive to Hexham whenever I go on a North East Explorer day.

(04 Mar 2016, 11:19 pm)Jimmi I was hoping for a Pulsar last Saturday but got 4662 which I thought wasn't too bad, although I hate how slippery those leather seats are, I was sat in the pushchair bay leaving Carlisle, the bus turned left at a junction and the driver had to slam on the brakes as some idiot in a van was stopped in a keep clear box and the seats offer no traction whatsoever especially in that situation so me and a few other passengers nearly ended up on the floor! Much preferred the Stagecoach Enviro 300 I got from Hexham to Carlisle, high backed seats and free WiFi on offer as well.

I found the 85/685 OmniCitys quite unbearable. The worn down, dirty seats and the lack of wifi put me off to be honest. The rear step next to where the engine is, was actually wobbling, not vibrating, wobbling!
The ADL E300s on the 685 operated by Stagecoach, were decent enough to stay on for the whole journey, but the squealing was a tad unbearable.
Can't win these days
