(02 May 2016, 11:18 pm)BusLoverMum Getting on at Durham narrows down the trains to York quite a lot. And we're talking 2 hours each way on the X93 from Boro to Scabby vs almost the same on the train from Durham, costing a lot more. Admittedly, the toilets are a little better, on the trains!
Edit - almost £90 return for the two of us - sod that! Admittedly it would pay for a railcard, instantly, but we're talking £12.80 for arriva day tickets or £18.20 for explorers, here!

(06 May 2016, 9:51 am)BusLoverMum It's still no faster and we still have to get to Durham, either by car or bus - the first bus gets into Durham at 9:42 ad the fare for just that leg would be pretty much the same as the day tickets we'd need for the X93 as we don't get any discounted tickets where we live (we have to head 20 miles north to get to Newcastle. The 20 miles south to Boro halves our bus travel time)
It's one of those situations where the train marginally wins on comfort, but loses by a mile on price. Speed is a draw.

There's going to be an event a little bit more local (details yet to be confirmed) on this day, so I think I'll have to give Scarborough a miss this year. I'm sure the more local event will be a lot of fun, so those of you that can't go to Scarborough will have another option!

Route for the tours have been confirmed. Route will run anti-cockwise.
First bus from the Town Centre is 10.35 at Westborough outside Mother Hubbards Chippy and Spa Bridge lay-by at 10.45.
Apparently programmes will be available on the day listing buses and times which will cost £3.
The event itself will take place in the North Bay Swimming Pool Car Park between 10am to 5pm.
Apparently, a provisional date is being looked at for May 14th 2017. Nice that it looks to be happening again next year.
